A question just popped in my head maybe someone will have the answer to?!?!

My husband's application is being processed in London, however he's been called for an interview in Stockholm, Sweden (where he resides) - Also, his medical expires 5 weeks after the interview.

If the interview is successful and all documents are complete on their end, can the IO or embassy in Sweden request his passport at the time of the interview to avoid the expiry of the medical? Although the Embassy in Sweden does not issue visas. Like for them to take it and send it to London ...... ????

I just see us being at a disadvantage that doesn't live in London to be able to drop off the passport and pick it up within 2 weeks so that he can avoid re-doing the medical and adding another 2 months to the process.................

Any thoughts? experiences from anyone? ....

I'm trying to put some order into our application and was seperating the evidence and apps etc into envelopes, each marked as follows:

1) photos, xmas cards, birthday cards from family to us both
2) proof of co-habitation (utility and phone bills)
3) sponsor application including my ID eg phtocopy of passport, driver licence, copy of citizen certificate and wedding certificate
4) principle applicant forms, including copies of his ID
5) letters from family and current employers and details of my house for sale
6) details of trips together (flight info and hotel bookings)

Does this sound too much fussing?

And a little about us, I am the sponsor (providing they approve me) living with my husband, we just got married in June and want to apply to move to Canada, hopefully by the end of this year. I have never lived in Canada, but a Canadian citizen and waiting for my citizenship card, which I applied for in May from inland when we were there on holiday.

We are going to stay with my family from when we land. I was also reading that the straight forward applications go through faster, which I think ours is. If anyone has any advice for us I would very much appriciate it.

Sounds like you have done a great job of organizing your application..and will probably help the IO sort through your application faster..I wish I had done mine like that!! I have been with my Husband for 5 years in September..so I organized mine in to Application and supporting docs (ID and marriage cert etc) then into docs to prove our relationship for 2005,2006,2007,2008,2009,2010 then proof of our Wedding, lastly photographs...I get the feeling the IO that got mine is not loving his/her job right now as all my financial docs, proof of address, cards etc are all organized by date for each year, no in sections as you have done! I did add in an index sheet though...

You're very lucky. From your application-timeline, I can only assume that you're a non-Muslim AND you're white. Had you been a Muslim and a different race, you would have waited 8 to 9 months just for your interview, let alone all the other processing times. Though, thanks for sharing.

I'm Canadian sponsoring my British husband who lives in Ireland (where we lived for years before I recently came home to start new job).

He's recently (2 weeks ago) been asked to send his passport to London & our status online says "Decision Made" So we are hoping this is the end of the line!?

I used a very similar setup of my Proof of Relationship too. I thought it worked out pretty well! Seems like it's very organized

Wow - I was just hanging out on this thread to try to help people. There's really no need to assume things about anyone or imply that you are annoyed because I was fortunate enough to have a quick timeline. I've seen a lot of people on this and other forums that have had a very quick timeline through London. I was the sponsor and my husband was the applicant - and no, he didn't have an interview. But we have been together for 6 years, living together for 5.5 and married for 3, so I'm just guessing that the amount of evidence we were able to provide probably played a part in our quick processing.

I'm sure it must be incredibly frustrating for people when things go slowly and are apart from their partners, I can't empathise because I don't have personal experience with that situation but you have my sympathy. I wasn't trying to rub anyone's face in my timeline, only trying to maybe offer some insight into how the London office works.

That all looks good - we had a lot of the same types of evidence. As for the OptionC, I couldn't provide one either (not lived in Canada for 6+ years) so just sent all my proof of earnings from the UK, everything was fine for us. Best of luck!!!!

hello all..
i am new on this thread and so on this site..so looking forward to have a good advice from u guys..
I am an international student here and my sister lives in canada and sponsering me in family stream...
i sent my docs to canadian embessy on 1st april 2010..and after 4 months on 27th july 2010 they sent my docs back to me and said that my application is too incomlete to be assessd ,so i need to fill a new application...and send it again..
my question is that as i m applying in family stream what do u guys think that submitting my file at london embessy will take less time or if i send my file directly to canada..thats gonna take less time????
I am tooo confused n depressed abt this..they wasted my 4 months and didnt even started my case...
hope to get positive decision next time..

I noticed in your timeline it says "Docs Requested", I'm curious as to what additional documents did London request of you????

It was for a psych analysis to prove to them i wasn't crazy or something like that (related to self injury issues) Overall useless n just cost me another £300 i'd have liked to have kept! & with regards to your question about the interview, it really depends on the person you get at the time for everything i think. Fingers crossed they try to complete it before the medical expires though!

Paritnumber - Not sure about that particular stream, but i believe you have to send it to the canadian part first and wait for them to forward it on to london Hopefully you can use this site to help everything be filled out correctly this time!
