Fenna - With a work permit after first stage approval he could work, or volunteer work where your name doesn't go down on anything official (Which i found hard as your name will usually go on some kind of 'payroll' even if it's unpaid!). Other than that, it's not really worth the risk...

No we don't want to do anything risky, but the kind of jobs that don't require a PR or citizenship (non-regulated) How do we get the work permit, as he won't need a visiting visa because he is English, is this somethng you can apply for in Canada?

Hmm,

We are applying through London, but unfortunately after our file was transferred to London on the 18th August, we have had no more updates. We aren't even in Process yet.

I notice that most applicants through London have had an update to say 'in process' after a couple of weeks or less, should we be starting to wonder what's going on?

Hey, You will probably get a update anytime now.. A couple of weeks is quick.. It could already be in process but E-cas may not get updated right away.. It usually gets updated on Tuesdays... I didnt get a "in process" on E-cas until a month after my file was transferred but then it said it had been in process for 2 weeks already.. :) Hope you hear something soon

Thanks for the reassurance! Feeling a shade better about it now. Hopefully we are 'in process' but London are slow to reflect this... ::)

Someone told me that some immigration officers don't always update E-cas.... Which is annoying! It's nice to know what's going on...

I never got updated to in process, i couldn't log in until my passport request :) Don't sweat it, ecas is just a daily addiction checking for updates anyway XD

The words hit, nail and head spring to mind! lol

Must stop checking ecas!

Lmao i was the same, then i get an email asking for my passport n was like o.0 but...uh...what??
Maybe we should set up a swear jar type thing for ourselves in this situation, whenever you check ecas you put a coin in the jar - could save up for a flight! Lol

hello everyone! Yes it seems that Canada-UK applications are fairly quick! WE submitted an outland application which CIC-M received on July 5th. I was approved as a Sponsor on August 6th, and London started processing my husbands application on August 26th!

Now I do have a few questions! My husband is coming over on September 17th (we are fairly confident that he won't require an interview as he had a working-holiday visa here before and our relationship is strongly genuine!). This is going to be before he receives a request for his passport (unless it comes this week!). Does anyone know of what happens if his PR gets approved while he is in Canada? He is currently staying with his parents and used their address for the application. Would he/we (always up for a trip!) have to travel across the border?

You know, with the amount of questions in this forum you would think that CIC would either give a more detailed/clearer guidance or make the process a lot easier!

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Hey everyone!
So in July London office requested more documents! I sent them and have not heard a word for 2 months... I received a e-mail today saying....

"We are writing with regards to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

Thank you for your correspondence.

Please be advised that your application and submissions are currently under review with an officer. You will be contacted when we are in a position to proceed.

We appreciate your continued patience.

Yours sincerely, "

It is so nice to finally here something and know things are rolling again! I was told the request of more documents could of delayed things by 4 months!!!

by coming over do you mean he will be trying to get a visitor visa for 6 months? I attempted to change my address when i did this but couldnt, so my parents forwarded my mail from CIC on to me, and i got my PPR via email. In order to save confusion i sent my passport to my parents then had them send it on to CIC London with a return address to them, to send on to me etc etc. If that is your intention, then yes you will be able to travel accross the border to land instead of doing it through an airport :) I hope i helped, i wasnt really sure what you were asking...

Laura357- You're story sounds a lot like how mine went down, i was asked for a psychiatrist analysis and it got zero contact for a long time after until i got my PPR, i wasn't even sure it had gotten to them!

An update to our ecas, in process as of 8th September.

Hoping for another swift London process ::)

Hey everyone I am applying outland through London, UK office (well very soon... )
I am a British citizen and my Canadian partner is sponsoring me and we are to be married this December.
We have been in a relationship for nearly 6 years and see each other twice a year for about 3 weeks at each time. This is short compared to some of the time i have read people have spent with one another and that worries me a little on if it will affect my application...
We have our reasons for the short time and that is because of my studies and his studies and he has finally got a good paying job (one he has always wanted) and i when i send it i would have just finished my degree. Am not sending my application until some time time next year ~ as i want to just finish my degree or should i send it while i finish the last month or two of my degree? Not sure. We wanted to ensure we would have some sort of decent education between us so we can ensure we have a larger field of jobs we can get.

I might only be 22 (well i will be when married and apply) but i wanted to be prepared for the future. I don't think i can take another year or two away from him, hurts too much. Though maybe my desire to have a good education behind me may affect the application? Maybe i should of spent months at a time with him instead? I dunno.

Anyway...

Any useful tips that you could give me for my application?
All the help i can get will help :)
