Just putting our application package together and have just noticed that IMM 5562 Supplementary Information - Your Travels is only requested if you apply in Paris..... duh and this after I have spent several hours trawling through old passports to record all my trips! Can someone please confirm for me that they have applied in London successfully without this form (which is in the Part 3 - Country Specific Instructions pack for Europe)

We didn't include the information on the basis it was only required for applicants through the Paris visa office.

I would like to point out however that we are still in process with London and not approved yet!

ftgpmb: I have been approved and Landing on Wednesday morning..I didnt submit the section on travels..only needed if your going through Paris Visa Office! Dont worry you are ok not to submit the form

Can I get a moblie phone from England and use it in Canada? I know it'll have to be tri-band, but want to know if I can buy a SIM card from Canada and use it in the English phone.

I wouldnt recommend using an European Cell Phone in Canada even if its tir-band, although some nextworks I believe Rogers, Fido and Virgin have sim cards(even for Contract phones), Tellus and Bell dont..not sure about Wind and Koodo..

I have used 3 phones from the UK 2 of them Sony Ericsson and the other was a Nokia..all of them have screwed up..I had a hard time charging them (even with Canadian Charger), dropped calls..lost my network a lot and text messages hardly ever got to my phone..

Last time I entered Canada in 2008 I bought a cheap PAYG cell phone with Rogers and have used it since..I plan on getting a contract when I get a job..I have kept my old phone from the UK for any occasions I might go back to the UK for a while..

Your Welcome..over the past 3 months I worried about everything I put in my application and whether I was going to have to fly back home for an interview, if I had explained our relationship well enough...and I think everyone else can same the same too! Don't worry you will be fine..if they need anything extra they will ask you for it..

Another thing not to worry about is if you get an E-CAS update saying "In Process" then don't have another one for a few months..there is nothing abnormal about that..I got my Passport requested before E-Cas was updated again!

Good Luck with your application...and remember there is no such thing as too much proof..

Hi all....if anyone is reading this and hasn't yet sent their application yet PLEASE send it via courier or Royal Mail 'Airsure' NOT 'International Signed For'. I sent mine 'signed for' on the advice of the post office staff and it only gets tracked until it leaves the UK so I don't have any way of knowing if my docs have been received....why would she think I wanted to pay £16 for that?!?!?
Anyway, hopefully this will help someone out there so they don't cross their fingers and pray every week when they check Ecas like me!!!!

You should be able to check if it got signed for, therefore knowing it got there. If you can't get the info on the website, go into a post office and they'll be able to give you a bit more info. I sent mine signed for n although i got no tracking until it got there, i still knew it got there, also it took about a week

It only tracks up to it leaving the UK, having checked the website and in our Main Branch office since sending it ! I should have looked into it myself instead of listening to the Post Office staff but never mind....fingers crossed its there on someone's desk !!

Question about receiving the visa

I am being sponsored by my long term partner outland at the London UK visa office.
My question is this. When (If!) I am asked for my passport, if I take it directly to the visa office myself, will the visa be issued immediately, i.e. same day? I know that if its sent by post it can take about 2 weeks or more before I get it back.
Also, if I get asked for an interview but get approved after the interview, will my visa be issued right away?
Its such a stressful time as everyone going through this knows, all the waiting and not knowing. I just want the process to be as fast as possible!

Hope someone can help, as not sure what to do with the laboratory report sent to me after my medical examination.

I just received my Laboratory report from my medical, although I had already put into my pack ready to go the Medical Report Section A that the doctors gave to me after my examination.

Should I also put this into the pack to be sent off with everything else, or was this sent to me just so I know the results of my blood tests?

If anyone has any idea, that would be really useful.

So in July London office requested more documents! I sent them and have not heard a word for 2 months... I received a e-mail today saying....

"We are writing with regards to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

It is so nice to finally here something and know things are rolling again! I was told the request of more documents could of delayed things by 4 months!!!

I think we are in the same boat. I was sent a letter requesting more docs on 17th august and havent heard anything since, its SOOOOOO frustrating. I just want this whole process to be over, the waiting without any news is killing me! Have you had any mroe updates since?
