My COPR has arrived! :D

One of the happiest days of my life, a real mixture of emotions. Happiness, relief, excitement. Just an amazing feeling!

Good news too is the PR has no conditions. Date of issue is April 17th and they've given me until April 2015 to land, although I'm planning on going in a couple of weeks.

Thank you to everyone who has helped and given their support along the way. I would never have got to this point without the help of the people on this forum.

Fantastic!!! :) :) :)

Best of luck for the move and future.

Are you currently in Canada? Where did they mail the COPR from?

Great thanks. Our mailing address is in the US so I expect about a week's mailing time.

First off, I want to say congratulations! I have been following this forum, and it's accompanying spreadsheet for a while, and know how long you have been waiting for this.

I do have one question however, if you - or someone else - wouldn't mind answering. You're saying you have a year to land, is that an option? I thought you had to land within a year of your medicals? I can see from your description it has already been more than a year since your medicals. Did you have to get a second medical? We did our medical very early, and I am a little worried about how that is going to play our for us. Sorry if you have already detailed this and I missed it.

Thanks and congrats again!

Thanks 7, really appreciate it!

In my case I appear to be one of the examples where the VO has extended the validity of the medical by a year, April 2013 was my original and only medical. Seems quite common now for applications where the medical expiry is close to the visa issue date.

I noticed a few people talking about having a conditional PR and some with no conditions, I just was curious what sorts of conditions they would attach or is it really just dependent on personal circumstances?!

Hi. Just got referred here from the Spousal Sponsorship thread. I am a Canadian and I recently married my Brit. - here in Canada - he is here in a visitor status, with a return ticket to the UK. We first met in 1968 (in Canada), wrote for about a year after he returned to Britain, and then lived our lives… we reconnected early this year, and married three weeks ago…it's a long, but good story…however, with respect to the immigration process, i.e. getting permanent resident status, can we apply Outland while he is living here? His 6 month 'visit' is up in September but we intent to return to the UK to visit before that. Does his medical have to be done in the UK? I spent 32 years working for the federal government and I have seen more than my share of forms, but I have never seen anything like the CIC web site and the Immigration document requirements. Nearly overwhelming. Thanks for any information that will smooth out our process. Also, we are both retired so work permits are not a concern.

Yes you can apply outland while he is 'visiting' you in Canada (Advise you not to use the word 'living' for immigraton purposes until your husband has rights to live in Canada). His medical can be done in Canada as long as you use a panel doctor.

It does seem overwhelming at first but if you follow all the information on the CIC web site you will be fine, just ensure you include quality proof that your relationship is genuine & complete all the forms correctly.
