Ok great. So for that 3 month period I heard it is advisable to purchase medical insurance, can you recommend any companies?
It does depend on where you end up residing... Different Provinces = different rules.

From your previous posts, you've been in BC throughout the process. If so, you already qualify for BC MSP; you actually could have gotten healthcare many months ago, as MSP gives coverage to sponsored spouses waiting for PR. Normally, the wait period is the balance of the month a qualifying person arrives in Canada plus 2 months. For spousal PR applicants in Canada, it is the balance of the month you sent your application to CIC plus 2 months.

http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/msp/infoben/pdf/covering-a-spouse-or-child-who-is-an-applicant-for-permanent-resident-status-in-canada.pdf

Your wife should immediately submit an account change adding you. Explain that you are well past the waiting period and should be given immediate coverage, as per the above publication; include the requested evidence.

Thanks for the info. We will get onto it right away. I'm so glad I found this forum as it has been so useful. It's been so tricky to gather information but it's great contributors like you guys exist...thanks peeps!!

My wife and I only found this out late January We mailed in application in the beginning of Feb and got medical coverage about 4-5 weeks later! This is only because she has been here longer than the time required to wait!

The Card does have an expiry date though FYI. Our coverage lasts 8 months I think

Hey,

So I checked ECAS today and it has been updated to Decision Made. It has been a few days since I have Checked ECAS since the ball was rolling with the PPR on March 13th. I did check ECAS 2 days after the PPR and it still said "Application Received"

Anyways, ECAS says that they started processing our application on March 12th.

Honestly, it is very spooky to know that a Decision was reached so quickly after they started processing it. It is either we were very organized with the application and gave them everything they needed, or they really are not checking things 100%, or the Processing date is wrong. Although they asked for the passport so that the permanent resident visa can be issued, It is an eerie feeling when the words, "A decision has been made on the application. The office will contact the applicant concerning this decision." It makes it sound like bad news. Hopefully the COPR and Visa come in the mail very soon! The passport was sent off a week ago.

Hey,

I was in a similar situation where they started processing the application and then a couple of days later a decision was made. It usually is a good decision from what I have gathered from this forum and that was the case for me too. I received the CoPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residency) in the post about 2 weeks later and it was all good news! :D

So I emailed London and got this message

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your message.

Your file is currently awaiting officer review, we will be in touch if any additional information is required.

Thanks

REO.

I know it will be a few months probably before I get ANY movement but its kinda of reassuring that we at least get an acknowledgment

Very slow indeed! Hopefully we will hear something by the end of April, based on timings in the spreadsheet.

States on E-Cas that a decision has been made. This has been added today.

Does anyone know roughly how long it takes to get something in the mail confirming what the decision is?

Thank you :)
