I know its so tempting!!!

Are you CL or married ?

Not a hard and fast rule but I have noticed CL stays in process slightly longer?

Picklemesh and godisFin.

When do you plan to land and where are you moving to?

I'm already in Canada, so as soon as I get that COPR we will drive to Niagara Falls and land. :)
I'll be living in Toronto area.

What about you? :)

I shall be moving to the TO area too, Mississauga to be precise!

I have tickets booked to arrive right at the start of October so I shall land at pearson - Hope me COPR comes by then!

If my partner received his DM (which he obviously has not or I would be much more excited) before his current visa expires, he is still unable to work until he crosses the border with his COPR, right?

He is currently employed in Canada, but if we do get approval in the next few weeks (unlikely), he will still have to cross the border when his current visa expires, and again when we get the letter?

I think I know the answer already, but am just hoping I am wrong...

If his current visa ends before his permanent residency is approved, then he can just pay $75 to change his status to a visitor. This means he doesn't have to leave the country when his visa expires, just when he is flagpoling for PR status.

If PR is granted before his current visa expires, then I don't see why he would have to leave the country on both occasions. Just when he is flagpoling for PR status, but that's just my opinion :)

Out of curiosity - I actually should be revising for an exam but i procrastinate on this forum and daydreaming about COPR- ....out of curiostiry when CIC does background and security checks what do they actually do? Is it just looking at the police record?

I just ask because when people have enquired the response has generally been we are doing security checks which seem to take agessssssssssssssssssss.

Police is one thing but the biggest delay is the "security services" checking. Nobody knows what happens there in any detail as GCMS notes are redacted.

Been away for awhile, nice to come back and see progress in London, lots of DMs and COPRs received :D.

Though I missed having constant internet access (or any access at all lol), I must say that "digital detox" does a person good :).

Real bacon or the crappy Northern American bacon? :P

North American bacon, crisp almost to the point of being burnt :D! I worked at a restaurant in NZ where they always got complaints from the North American tourists about how bad the bacon was cooked. When I started working there, I had the chefs start cooking it the way I like it and voila! No more bacon complaints :)
