PNP doesn't provide implied status but it does provide the opportunity to apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit. On an IEC, even if you apply for spousal sponsorship inland and submit an OWP app, you are not allowed to continue working after the IEC expires. So there is usually that gap of at least a few months (or possibly longer if applying outland) where you cannot work. With a PNP app submitted, you can get a BOWP if your work permit is due to expire within 4 months, so you can continue to work. It does take a lot longer but for someone on an IEC who has an great job and doesn't want to risk losing it by having to stop working for a few months, PNP can be the better option over spousal sponsorship. They still get to stay in Canada with their partner and they get to continue working through the whole PNP process.

Great advice - thank you. My IEC expires in 3.5 months so I'll be looking into this stat!

Really hoping for some good news from people this week, especially in 2012 ss!!

*fingers crossed everyone*

Indeed. If my COPR doesn't arrive by wednesday, I won't be getting my dream job. 1 month now since they said that I'd met requirements and they would sending my COPR "shortly".

Indeed - it's ridiculous. you're approved, and because they can't get the paper sent to you, you won't get the job. time to get some pressure on them. Fingers crossed!

Not trying to be funny but he isn't a Canadian resident but merely a visitor so, in effect, has no MP.

My wife is Canadian though. And this is ruining her life too.

The VO is required to reply to an MP within 5 working days...I know that you are within normal processing but you have proof that you have been aproved with the emails - if you state the consequences of London not sending your COPR, you have a good case for your MP to agree to chasing your file...good luck

Yup! That's pretty much what we've said to our MP. I just need someone in London to print and mail something!!! Come on!!! Said that this delay would likely cost me my dream job and be greatly detrimental to our success in re-establishing in Canada. We've got a good MP at least. We've contacted her a few times before on a variety of issues (non-immigration!) and she's been very good in correspondence.

Fingers Crossed DGT - really mean that!

My MP's office said that they were going to check in with VO in a month. I emailed them today (1 month would have been last Friday) and in TEN MINUTES I got a response that they were going to send off another inquiry. Granted I don't live in somewhere as big as Toronto or Vancouver but honestly I've gotten the very best service from the MP's office here in Fredericton - a very happy constituent here. :)

DGT - here's hoping they can get something sorted for you as well! If the actual MP won't do anything, what about getting in touch with the opposition?

Thanks Katey! I hope your MP works something out for you too!

sad sad sad..I don't have a good news for your people. Unfortunately...!!

Strike news:

Canada's foreign service officers are targeting Prime Minister Stephen Harper's trip to Europe next week as a part of a bold tactic to rejuvenate stalled contract talks. These include London, Paris and Dublin — destinations for a major European trip by Harper next week that includes a stop at the G8 summit..It's going to mean a massive backlog and huge reduction in the pace and volume of the processing of visas and permanent resident applications in these locations.
