Hello friends!

I wonder if someone can guide me here.

I got a call for interview on 8th May 2013 and the interview went absolutely fine. The Interview Officer advised me that he is 100% satisfied with the relationship and he approves the application. Although at that point in time he didn't keep my passport and informed that security/background check will follow and then I will get an email from them later to bring the passport.

I applied from London office in Sep 2012, however I hold a Pakistani passport and I am in London for studies from last 2 years on student visa. My Husband is in Canada (obviously). I understand that they might have to get security/background checks from London as well as my home country.

I was wondering if someone can tell me how long would that take in my situation??

Thanks in advance if you can reply and help Smiley

The security checks are the longest part of the process so you could be waiting a little while longer. If you have a look at the LDN spreadsheet 2012 in my signature at the bottom you will see other applicants who are non visa exempt and how long the total processing took for them.

Thanks a lot for your reply.... Total processing time from London is 10 months as it says on the website and our case is already 8 months in.... do you have any rough idea of the time tho??

It is only an average of 10 months for 80% of application which means that 20% are a lot longer.

with the work-to-rule strikes going on right now it could be longer than normal.. If I was to take a guess I would say another 3 months... but others on here might have a different opinion

I'm not holding out much hope for an end to the strike anytime soon I'm afraid. The Conservative Government are not known to be overly supportive of public sector employees and they don't seem to be overly concerned with it at the moment. But we shall see! At least it's not a total stoppage on work.

That sounds quiet bad along with wait for another few months!!!

My medical is expiring on 10th September and Visa officer told me it would be before that... but that means I would have to spend another summer without my hubby!!! :(

I feel your pain. Such a difficult process to go through. I hope that Canada holds the summer weather for you so you get a little bit of it when you do arrive! :D
