Hello,

I have a quick question about Form 5490 Question 27. My boyfriend and I have lived together since mid 2010, but only became a couple late 2011.

In asking when we cohabited together, should we start when we initially moved in together, or just from when we started dating??

If this was outside of Canada, it will already be listed on your forms anyways. (IMM5540 for the sponsor asks for foreign addresses and dates lived there and IMM5669 for the applicant asks for all addresses and dates).

You can put the date you initially moved in together, then explain on an additional page that you were roommates from XX/2010 to XX/2011, then bf/gf from XX/2011 onwards, becoming common-law a year later on XX/2012. Do you have anything to show the change in your relationship from roommates to bf/gf?

However it would be great if there was a bigger scale exchange which securely offered to match buyers and sellers of CAD$ like Betfair does for bets. As I have just sold a house in £ and am going to have to convert that to $ at some point it is a bad enough rate as it is without a middleman taking more points off me!

Ahh! Cic can be sooo dumb! They said they lost the receipt for the right to permenant resident fee so I resent it last thursday! I had not heard anything back so i decided last night to send an enquiry to see if they received it. I got an email from them this morning saying they havent relocated it and have no received the email i sent either. So, I sent it again but how many flippin times do you need to email them before they actually get it! For goodness sake.....RAGE!

How are you emailing them? Are you going to the website and doing the whole thing from scratch or are you doing a reply to an email they sent you?

well i did both. first sent a case specific enquiry and today sent one direct from email.

I would be raging to. Its one thing to be understanding of CIC i.e shortage of staff or perhaps the time it takes to do security checks etc. But thats not what is causing the issues and makes me angry its the complete lack of competence; lost files, can't locate documents which have been sent more than once, forgotten files just laying around the list goes on and on....

I hope you get it resolve UK2Can, you have been waiting just as long as me..

I awoke to an email from CIC Medical Services Division today regarding my application informing me that they need me to send 4 passport sized photographs to complete my application. I am definitely sure I included these though.

Good sign? Or a sign of (a lot) more waiting to come?

At the very least, someone is looking at your file which is a definite yay! It does mean some more waiting, but hopefully not too much.

I know you might have sent the pictures already... But one of the problems I had with my application (and one of the reasons it got sent back to me) was that my pictures were printed on glossy paper rather than matte paper. Chances are you sent them pictures on glossy paper which they can't use. They never actually specified this when they requested new pictures, they just said that they need to be within the guidelines. After measuring them and checking them like, 100 times, I called CIC and they said the paper thing could be the problem. We sent them new ones on matte paper (though exactly the same in every other respect) and they were deemed acceptable.

Just something to be aware of for when you get your new pics done, good luck!

You think ten days is a good rule of thumb? They got my fingerprints 2 weeks ago and I've started to get a bit antsy about it. I emailed them when they first received them to confirm they had them, but they didn't respond (which is unusual because they've been great about replying to me). I thought bugging them now might be a bit premature but I really don't like the thought of my file just sitting idly. What do you think?
