Hi guys,

I'm just scrolling through this thread and it seem like alot of people are having problems with their applications through the London office.

I just sent off my outland application this week,I am applying for a common-law visa through my partner, I'm currently on my second visa with the IEC too so I cant get another one :(! My current visa runs out in September so I'm really hoping i get my application approved before then! It says on the site that the general processing time is 9 months, just wondering if anyone had theirs approved faster than this?

thanks

All 6500ish Irish IEC visas were gone in 4days.. Unreal!

I was so angry when I saw they had got rid of the habitual rule this year.. That's why I didn't get my second IEC and have been off work since June grrrrr >:(

Hey,

If you look at the spreadsheet in my signature, you'll see that quite a few people have had their PR in less than 9 months.
Mine was 7 months total, and that's including 3 months first stage (back in the days last year when stage 1 was a nightmare! :-) good old times...), then 4 months in London. If your case is straightforward (first sponsorship, first marriage/CL relationship, no kids from before etc), then you'll probably done before the 9 months mark...
Before September seems feasible, London has been a bit slow the last few weeks, but hopefully it's just a phase.
Good luck,
Sweden

what was the 18 month rule before?

Round 2 opens on 25th February - doesnt give a time.
I couldn't get a second IEC visa (which would have been my third working holiday one) because I needed to be in the UK for 18 months out of the last three years. Being that I was in Canada the whole time since Nov 09, (barring a 2 month visit to the UK in spring 2011 to get my first IEC visa), I got denied. Sooooo frustrating, as I could still be working right now right up til June 2013, which would have been perfect timing.

What does all that mean?
Some people will probably think of applying for this whilst they wait for the PR to be processed (assuming they're under 30/31 or whatever the cut off age is): http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/experience_canada_experience/index.aspx?view=d

There used to be a rule where you couldn't apply for a second IEC visa because you had to have lived in the Uk for 18 months out of the last three years, but they have removed that. Too little too late for some though.

Hi,

Met a Danish girl who had a total progress of 5 months, including request for a missing form.

My girlfriend and I are looking at sending our application for common law off either tomorrow or monday, and she is currently here in Canada on her second IEC visa. I have been checking the IEC website daily, and was shocked when they became released yesterday. I was at work and my girlfriend was not answering her phone, I took an extra hour for lunch and drove home, validated the documents and there were none left, we had everything done by 8:35 and there were none left, we were literally 20 minutes late. - and the most ironic thing is, being the terrible boyfriend that I am, I stopped off for a valentines card on the way home! - if only I hadn't have got her a card, we could have had a visa. :P

Her current one runs out on May 3rd, so this batch of IEC visas have come at the perfect time for us! - especially with them dropping to requirement to have lived in UK for 18 months of the last 3 years.

Hopefully on the 25th, we can just submit the documents and get the WTN #. and pay the fee and continue through MyCIC account! - so double applications for us this month! - :o
That's awesome that the timing works perfectly for you. I've been on a visitor record since June and it's now slowly starting to eat me alive. Not a pleasant feeling.

And I just remembered that she had a child with another man as well, who doesen´t live in Canada, so I guess she was really lucky!

Thanks Sweden! that would be awesome if mine got approved between 6-7 months, means i dont have to leave! Fingers crossed i guess!! :)

If you're from a visa-exempt country, you can change from IEC to visitor visa and remain in Canada even if your IEC visa is over - but you can't work of course. Then when the PR comes in, you go to the border, exit and land as a PR, and you can work again! :-)

If the IEC has opened does this mean that London will reshuffle resources to dealing with these instead of PR applications? So our process could get a whole lot slower (if this is even possible)?
