Hi everyone,

Delighted to announce that my common law partner's COPR arrived in the mail today in the UK!

Although I haven't been posting much on here, I've been checking the site at least 3 times a day since September, lol.

Our timeline is: application received in Mississauga June 28, file transferred to London September 17, visa issued February 6.

I dreamt last night that he would receive his visa today... so I can literally say that my dreams have come true :D

Good luck everyone...Sfeire, I've noticed we have similar timelines so hopefully you'll get good news shortly as well!
Oh thank god! You have just given me some hope! We have very similar timelines so fingers crossed mine is on its way or very close!!!!!
I dream that often and hopefully mine will come true soon :)

Congrats to you!!! good luck with the move whenever it is :)

Today I decided to check when I did my medicals. It was 8th March 2012. When I sent off my application in May I never for the life of me thought there was any chance of these expiring before I got my PR. Now I'm exactly 1 month away from this happening. Sigh.
Given that you're already in process, chances are they'll just extend them.

My declarations from friends and family re our common law relationship weren't notorised! :( Bad bad times, I will anticipate an email from London requesting them to be! We do have quite a lot of other proof i.e. a child!, joint affairs etc so it will be mighty annoying if they do come back a request it. When you are asked for additional documents is there much of a delay does anyone know .. do you go to the bottom of the pile again?! or is it just a case of ticking the box?

Sweden, thank you for your advice re our daughter's citizenship a while back ... I sent her documents off to London a couple of weeks ago and tried my luck and requested it through urgent processing to which my argument was accepted and was forwarded to the Registry in Canada on the same day! Looks like her cerficate will come through before my PR! I think we will end up just going over regardless of when the paperwork comes back. It is time to bite the bullet I think!
Glad it worked out well, and yes - moving to Canada before is sometimes the easiest option - a bit scary but at least you get familiar with the surroundings and when the PR comes, it's less stress because the move is already done... and you can actually plan for a date rather than having to guesstimate everything.

For the letters - mine were not notarized either, and they didn't ask for anything. I didn't "understand" that statutory meant notarized, and so only got 3 normal letters (originals and signed of course but nothing else), so maybe it'll be the same for you. Also - when they ask for extra documents you already have an officer assigned so you don't go back to the back of the pile...
Good luck!

Ugh, I thought it was 9 months total. My visa in the uk is up in July. So I have to go back to Canada whether his permanent residency is through or not. Fingers crossed then. Have you had any correspondence with them about the status of your application?
[/q;uote]

No :( even just a change in status to say that my medicals were received would statisfy me. I doubt it will go to 9 months for you probably nearer the 6 months, but my fingers crossed for you that it is sooner.

Hi Sweden

Just curious as I've mentioned I sent 13 mths of joint utility bills and the bank slips showing my portion of the mortgage and bills I checked the immigrants guide and bills in joint name are perfectly acceptable evidence of co habitation I also sent an accompanying letter explaining why im not on the deed ect ect. However my partner has already put me on her t4 and we have already had to sign and have notarised a common law declaration which was sent to Mississauga for stage one surely this would be proof enough of our co habitation why would Tina pay extra tax if I wasnt living with her ?? thoughts??

Like many others on here, I often wondered at the general state of the London office, with its lack of organization, accountability, communications, etc. Offices in other countries seem to function much better than the London office. Then I saw on the news tonight that the High Commissioner to the UK is none other than former BC premier Gordon Campbell.....and suddenly London's deficiencies all makes sense ::)

Hello,

Trying to update stats but no luck so here it is...

File Received in Mississauga - September 6, 2012
Received Letter of Approval to Sponsor - October 17, 2012
File sent to UK - October 17, 2012

I know they said 9 months but I have read some say they got that in much less - we are 4 months in...a little anxious, just wondering...

I suspect this question has been asked a million times but please indulge me if you have any idea from experience. Do we have to wait the entire 9 months.

Thanks,

Mama-jama ;)

What was the common law declaration that had to be sent? Did they request this after from you?

Does anyone have any input what it means when it say MEDICAL RESULTS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED?

Hey Rita,

It means just that I'm afraid. It confirms that they have your medical result and have matched up with your file (which isn't always as guaranteed as you might hope!). It doesn't however mean anything with regards to a pass or a fail, or any decisions regarding your file. Judging by your timeline though, you ought to be soon!

Hey Mama-jama!

You'll be able to put the stats in your timeline after 10 posts, so spam some stuff about the weather or something! With regards to your question, the average processing time for the whole process seems to be around 200 days at the moment. So, you may still have a little bit to go yet but I shouldn't think that it'll be the whole 9 months! Unfortunately, nothing is ever certain with CIC though. Luckily, there are some members on here that are fountains of knowledge and they can keep you posted on the process!

Good luck!

I read in different responses that when you receive medical received, it means you are cleared...so many different perspectives
