Hi guys I'm new to here.

Sfeire your reply seems very similar to ours as we just got a email from our lawyer with the same information, and I logged in and checked the online status to see the same information...

Ok, just one be problem with my application which me and my wife are worried about. Is that 12 years ago when I was 18 I got a CR for theft which was under the value of $1000. I've been working in a special needs school for the government for the past 10 years. We have sent loads of references from mulitple head teachers etc.

Has anyone seen any similar case where they have got a approval even with a CR?

Thanks in advance guys...
Not sure how forgiving they are with this. If you have sent all your references and proof of your job, hopefully it will go through without a problem. Good luck! :)

okay what the!!!

So i emailed London a few weeks back asking that they had received our file... they emailed back the next morn and said yes its currently awaiting review.

Last week, my boyfriend emailed his MP in England and asked if he could be of any help as his visitor visa runs out soon blah blah blah (thats the short of it!) Yesterday we got an email from London stating they needed a couple of documents from us "to continue processing our application". Sent those off yesterday afternoon. Then got a letter to BF's house in England yesterday from the MP saying that immigration informed him that the application is due to be completed within a week, great news.

THEN, just now... my BF randomly got this:

Dear XXX,

Please be advised that your file is currently still in queue here in London to be reviewed by an Immigration Officer. Your file is not to far from the front and we hope to be able to provide you with more information just after the new year once your file has been reviewed.

We thank you for your patience.

My BF isnt too worried and seems to think its some kind of general email, but im kind of going mad now... yesterday we were told its in process!?? anyone ever had this happen, or any thoughts?? ???
PHEW!

Just got this back:

Dear XXX,

Thank you for your recent e-mail.

Apologies for the email below, this information was indeed incorrect. Your file has now been reviewed and the Immigration Officer reviewing your case and has asked for further documentation.

Please disregard the email below.

Thats a relief! ;D

I think you should be ok. I think after 10 years you are deemed Rehabilitated. If it is a very very serious crime it can be 20 years or inadmissible if it is very very major. Given what you have said, your application should be fine. You should however disclose it of course and you should refer to CIC guidelines and the ACRO U.K website for complete clarification.

Good luck

You may already have seen this, but just in case, here's the webpage on criminal rehabilitation from CIC:

I've put as much information as possible in our application, thanks for your fast reply. Just came across this site today and I'm glad I did "Crosses Fingers"

I've read that on the ACRO website, also informed our lawyer. She has also added information to our application on how they would of dealt with my conviction and had it Pardoned if it was in Canada. But being in the UK it stays on my record for 99 years

I got a £500 fine and 100 hours cummunity services. I was young and very stupid at the time so regret it now :(

Thanks I've seen that link read it so many times trying to workout if I'm ok. But I have travelled to Canada 5 times in the past year and got married there, I did get pulled over by the boarder guys and asked me a few questions and they let me go. If my conviction was serious would they have deported me at the airport?

In Canada on visitor visa
Hi all,

Just noticed that on my medical report it says visa office London (which is correct) but that the "name of medical office to which the IMM 5419" is sent to Ottawa!? That feels wrong... shouldn't it be Mississauga? Or is it because I did my medical exam while I was on visitor visa in Canada? I'm nervous now... I really hope they will forward it to the correct office.

Sending off my sponsorship application today, yeeey! Finally done!

How they can have this done but still be processing my app is beyond me.
I feel your frustration. It's getting beyond a joke. My application timeline is so similar to yours. I don't see why these applications cannot be granted/denied in order of when they were received in London. Ridiculous.
Have you had any luck in emailing/ringing them?
The only email I wrote was asking if my documents where even in London, which was in October, which is when my application changed to in process. I think I should email them yet again.

Hey Sarah,

OMG you are still waiting, that is totally ridiculous. You must be approaching 170 days since London received your file. I can see on the spreadsheet somebody who was common law (like yourself) and finished within 73 days of London receiving the file and only 113 days in total. So the excuse Common Law takes longer than Marriage doesn't hold up.

I really really feel for you and hope you have news soon. I would for sure be E-mailing them now, 170 days is far far too long compared to 95% of all the applications throughout 2012.

Good luck :D

Oh and Sarah here is a link where it says after 6 months (You look very close to 6 months now) you can start writing E-mails and enquiring about your case. I would even write to your MP if you don't hear something in the next 2 weeks.

Thank you. I thought maybe I was stressing over nothing but it really is a very long time. Now I'll email them. I'll my get fiance onto his local MP or whoever. I'm in Ireland right now, so we don't really have people who can deal with these things. Oh my heart will break if my visa is rejected.

Hey Sarah,

definitely start enquiring - but I don't think your visa will be rejected. If they have doubts about your relationship they will call you for an interview or ask to submit more documents, but they don't usually reject applications straight away - they will give you a chance to explain. If you don't qualify somehow (not lived together for 12 months if common-law etc), then you always have the option of re-applying... I hope you hear back from them... but if you don't, it might be a "good thing" - they never answered to any of my case-specific enquiry, most likely because they were about to issue my visa anyway...

Good luck - waiting is really hard.

Hey everyone,

okay so my husband had applied for a visit visa to Canada so he could come visit me this December.
Yesterday his visa got rejected and he can not come visit me anymore and I was really upset about that :'(
Since I was really upset my dad is buying me a ticket so I can go see my husband for the holidays *yay*
I will be gone for 3 weeks so my question is would it be okay if I go visit my husband while his PR application is still in process?
I am a Canadian citizen so I know I can go visit, but the reason I ask this is because I stayed with him during the summer for 4 months (got back in September). So if I go again now after 3 months would that cause any problems?

I would really appreciate some advice :)

It's completely fine! :) if anything, it proves that your relationship is genuine... so on the contrary - if needed, it will work in your favor. As long as you are a canadian citizen, you could choose to spend the whole process outside of Canada, and that's completely OK.... just keep the plane ticket, boarding cards, and any picture you may take while visiting, so if you are asked about more proofs of on-going relationship, you can add that to your file right away.
Enjoy your visit!
