Hey again! :)

9 days is super fast, and a few others in NOvember have had the same luck, so that's great! ( most applicants from February to July had to wait somewhere between 60 to 100 days for first stage approval, so no need to say - we might be a bit jealous, but glad for you!).

For London - if you look at the spreadsheet, you'll see more or less the average... but I would say, give it around 3 months at least before hearing anything back from London... you have a bit of time! from the spreadsheet it looks like they are working on sponsorship received in July, more or less, so you have a few months in front of you.

Good luck for stage 2,
Sweden

It should be faster than that.... quite a few people get done in London in 3 to 4 months already... if you have a "straightforward" application, no previous marriage or children, living together and all the proofs for that, you should be done earlier than that... then you have to land before the expiration of the medicals - which for you is April - so I hope that London can grant you either the PR before that date, OR they can extend it....

Obsessing about the website - welcome to the club... :)

Hi all,

I'll join this thread, if you don't mind! :) Just received confirmation from Canada Post that our sponsorship application is delivered to Mississauga today. Hope that we get as quick reply as some of the November applications! Would be nice to have it before Christmas anyway.

I'm not that nervous about the first part, the only thing that I think could be a problem is that my boyfriend's Canadian passport has expired (he didn't receive the new one before we were ready to send the application) but we've send a copy of his permanent residence card and a copy of his British, valid passport. I hope that is enough. What do you guys think?

Hi everyone,

I received an email from the London office today stating that I need to attend an interview to determine whether i meet the criteria ... It is kind of reasonable to get this since I am a non-visa exempt applicant, and it seems most similar applicants are called for an interview. The email also asks to bring along "Proof of continued contact with your sponsor". Does anyone know what to expect from these interviews? Did anyone here have to go through one before? and why didn't they ask to interview my wife (the principle applicant) too?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Wish I could answer that, when did you file your visa application?

There's a thread that gives you a guide through on what kind of questions they may ask, general questions on what do you expect in canada, When do you want to go etc etc and I've heard they ask you questions as such, whats the capital of Canada and name 5 provinces. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but thats what I've come across on this forum.

Good luck

Hey!

the main goal of the interview is usually to determine if you have a genuine relationship - and it's always for the person applying for the PR - so the "principal applicant", your wife is not an applicant, she is the sponsor. She can choose to attend the interview ( especially if she is in the UK with you) but she doesn't have to.
To prepare, just gather everything that you have as communication proofs between your wife and yourself. Skype, emails ( don't need to print all the emails, but a good way would be to do a screen print of all the emails with dates etc, and maybe print out a few that are significant to your relationship), calling history if through phone. If your wife came to visit you between the moment that you filed the application and now, then bring the proofs (plane ticket, boarding pass, etc) of that as well. If you purchased anything together for your future place in Canada, bring that - one person also suggested that your wife could take a life insurance ( you can usually find some quite cheap ones) with you as the principal beneficiary, and bring that as a proof as well. Here is a list ( from 2008, but I could not find a more update one, there might be one somewhere on the thread) of the type of questions that you might be asked, just to prepare yourself. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t12122.0.html
Good luck! when is the interview?

Welcome! feel free to add yourself to the spreadsheet, the link is in my signature but it's open for all, so you just add yourself. you cna also start a December 2012 thread since you're probably one of the first one to send it! :)
I don't remember what are the requirements for the ID, but if you have a valid piece of ID + the PR card, it should be good...
Good luck with your application,
Sweden

Hi Sweden,

thanks for your reply, I think Grizzlybear is in same situation as me, as i mentioned previously that i got an email reply form CIC sating that i will get a call for interview soon. But it wasn't an interview call. they just informed me about my file status.

i still have not got email or any letter from them for interview. I think being non visa exempt it is very common to get a call for interview. but obviously it depends on own individual case.

Grizzlybear , if you just share your timeline with us, when did you apply for visa and when you got sponsorship approval?

When did they call you for interview?

Regards

Hey. Someone else on the thread i think chopsticks was asked to provide proof of communication also. Did you submit proof of communication with your app? See Sweden's advise above as a guide.
All the best.
