I noticed on the London Spreadsheet that Sarah2012 had commented that she was told that common law takes longer than a marriage application which I think most of us kind of thought, but it makes me wonder if we would see more of a pattern if on the spreadsheet it stated whether it was a common law relationship or a marriage and if kids were involved (canadian or non canadian citizens). I'm not suggesting this information is added to the spreadsheet, but it does make me wonder if these details matter in terms of timeline.

Would a married couple (one of which is a canadian citizen) with children who are biologically the sponsors, be a quicker application than a common law couple with the same family unit. Or would a married couple in the same position as the previous two but have children who are not biologically the sponsors take longer because there are additional rules in regards to the children not being the sponsors?...anyway, I'm sure you get my drift...

Just thinking out loud...

i'm interested to see these statistics.

Sonia - you might want to check this thread as well
There is one more person with a similar situation - sponsoring an indian national living in the UK.
Good luck,
Sweden

YOU ARE SO KIND, thank you very much for your help,

Sonia

I'm wondering if my application is is taking longer because:

1) My spouse (who is being sponsored) is an indian national living in UK with a student visa...we still needed to process at the london VO

Is anyone else in this situation?

I'm so frustrated, I feel like crying when I think about it,
Sonia

Just been looking at the spreadsheet, I'm hoping that your timescales mean that you have recently passed into 'In Process' but just that E-CAS has not been accurately updated- this seems to happen a lot.

Please don't despair- I believe it seems to take a bit longer for non visa-exempt countries but not too much- try and find distraction where you can. I'm a planner so am trying to do things that will be useful for Canada to keep my occupied- updating my resume into Canadian form and looking at bank accounts etc.

Must say I like the addition of the 'Married/ Common-Law' box. I'm applying Common-Law and assumed that processing time is longer, since there is a higher burden of proof involved. Will be useful to be able to see just how much that difference is.

Hey ldjames,

I am not sure that it makes such a difference - I am common-law and got approved, within more or less the same timeline as the rest I think.... but difficult to say. Common-law does required a little more proofs than married, but not so many - especially in cultural contexts with common-law is acceptable/accepted. I think what can make more of a difference in handling applications could be for the applicants to have travelled to different countries, needing more Police Checks, and have moved around quite a lot (which is my case for example) - it takes more time to check if the story is accurate and if it makes sense ( in terms of dates etc), than, let's say, an applicant who has lived more or less all his life in the same country, and moved addresses in the same country... and that will be difficult to put on the spreadsheet.
But - of course I don't mind adding the information in the spreadsheet - just did it!
Good luck with your application,
Sweden

It seems that the column has moved up one cell....it should be an easy fix.

Who is the inconsiderate git who has been changing dates on the spreadsheet around lines 61 and 62 possibly more. Please people... If you need to make changes then make them to your own details and leave the others alone.

I thought so too, and went to have a look to fix it, but it's more than that, because I tried switching the second column one down ( simple copy/paste) and it didn't look any better - even worse I would say... so i put it back the way it was.
I'll try to see if there is another version saved somewhere and put it back - but anybody who has another idea is welcome to try!
Sweden

OK - I restored the version from the 7th of November, so 4 days ago, because I could see that this one was correct. Any change that happened afterwards for your own file, please correct ONLY your one line.
If you're not sure how to do it, feel free to send me a message (pm or here) and I'll try to explain...
I don't want to be responsible for the maintenance of the spreadsheet, as I won't probably spend as much time as before but it should not be that complicated.... to keep it "clean"...
Thanks,
Sweden

I have an old printed out version but it is only dated up until October 5th. I can tomorrow when I have some time alter everybody up to the 5th October but I can't do anything about the people after that date. Not sure what somebody did but it is totally wrong. If anybody has a saved previous version it would be better than me doing it manually but if it is still the same tomorrow, I will have a look at changing it all manually. :D

Ok scrub that. Ty Sweden :D

I know that s2gordon and jennyfox have their COPR because there was a long list of red right up to caddboy. I am not sure on their exact dates Sweden but they were within a day or so of you.

Ok - I went through the thread to check for information posted here since 7th of November, and added the following information / users:
blueboom
srehal
louisen
s2gordon DM 07/11

Could not see anybody else posting in the thread...
So now it should be up to date, and hopefully will not be messed up again! :-)

However, I have not updated the information on common-law/married etc, I created the column and whoever wants to put the information for themselves can do it.
