Hey Chopsticks,chopsticks said:Hi,
since the London office asked my husband to provide original police reports from all the countries he has lived in does that mean he has to get updated/ current ones now? Or can he send the ones we had from before, but this time send originals rather than photocopies.
I am asking this because he will have to get them from Pakistan, Finland, and Belgium.
It is difficult to get police reports from a country you are not currently living in.
So is there some sort of a expire date on the police reports?
you need to send originals, and they need to reach CIC within three months from the date of issue. So if you have sent only copies in your file, then they are not valid - and it's creating delays to your file... I am not sure why you didn't submit the originals in the first place, because they would have been valid for a year if they had reached CIC with the original application (if they were within the 3 months).
So - best advice is to get the police records as soon as possible, and send them in ( with a cover letter with file number, and possibly a copy of the letter requesting them), as soon as you get them ( even if you don't get them at the same time), so they don't become invalid... once they have reached CIC, they are valid for one year, but they need to reach CIC within 3 months of issuance ( I have said it already, but it's important, so here again! )
For the RPRF : pay online, get a copy of the receipt and send it both to CIC-Mississauga and to London by email, so they are aware that you have paid and that part is done.
Good luck!
