London received my husbands on march 9th, that was 4 weeks ago today. We are still in the uk so hopefully, like pinklady, we'll get it back this week. I'm out Friday, so it will probably come then:)
London received mine on March 15th. We are in the UK too but were planning on leaving for a visit to Canada on 16th April (tickets booked etc.) - eek! I watch your progress with interest whitehorsejk. I enclosed a note requesting expedited service for what it's worth - probably means they'll put me at the back of the queue!

Incidentally, anyone heard of going to fetch the ppt on the Thursday afternoon after having posted it in? I might be that desperate.

Yeah that was the problem I was told about if you don't send all the documents off together and send it without all the Police Clearances. Apparently, you now need to wait until they send you your letter of confirmation that includes the barcode stickers in it and send off the additional information with the barcodes on the outside of the envelopes so that they all match up when they get to the Embassy.

From what I was told, sometimes they don't always send the confirmation straight away, and you may need to wait until they request the missing police record and when they send you through the letter requesting it they will give you a three month window to send it in, and they then don't look at your application again until after those additional three months have passed, even if you send in the police certificate the next day.

I know this all sounds awful, and it was really hard for me to have everything sitting here ready to go and waiting the extra 6 weeks for my Australian Police Certificate, but all you can do is wait for the letter with the barcode stickers in, or your police certificate may not get to your file, then that would be a double waste.

You could always cross your fingers that they don't wait the whole 3 months, and this might be completely wrong, but so many people gave me this advice, I had no option but to take it.

Good luck to you.
Was just scanning through the forum and noticed this reply to my question. For completeness incase anyone else is wondering, this is how I got around the dilemma of how to submit with PC certs to follow without delaying the application. I submitted my application with the UK PC cert (where I currently live) and stated US and SA ones to follow. After my file had transferred to London and when I received the missing PC certs, I uploaded the scanned documents to the email correspondance service on the CHC web page, quoting the Client ID we had received. I received an email back from London saying only original documents were acceptable. I put the originals in an envelope referencing the email, quoting the Client ID number (I still didn't have a file number) and sent them in. Seemed to work fine as my processing time in London was very similar to others around a similar time to mine who included their PC certs - I am part of the October cohort if you want to check. Worth a try rather than waiting for them to write to you or worse still waiting for the PC certs to arrive. The risk is of course that the PC cert gets lost in the CHC London files because it lacks a file number.

My husband is in the same boat. We mis-read 2 weeks if you handed it in personally and thought hey, four weeks should be enough....two extra weeks just in case. But now based on recent posts, it looks like we'll have to forfeit his plane ticket coming back to Canada April 14th. If you live in London it may be worth trying to obtain it through that route. I guess it wouldn't hurt standing in line and speaking with someone next Thurs. But I have never heard of anyone doing that before so I can't really give advice regarding that route. My husband would have probably done the same but his flight is supposed to be next Thursday morning and it's already too late today. Please keep me updated with your progress. I guess when they stated "do not book anything until you receive your passport back" in block letters on the passport request sheet we should have listened. So all others on this thread, learn from our mistake!

Have you tired emailing them and explaining your situation with the plane ticket etc? I was in Canada but I emailed them as I had to travel urgently and I received an email that day saying they have posted my passport and gave me the tracking number... it turned up 3 days later. My visa had actually been put in my passport a week earlier but they then obviously sit in another pile waiting to be posted out.

Thanks so much for your advice. We were going to call but they said in the message that they won't consider you unless it's been over 20 days. Which email address did you use?

Thanks so much.

This is so stressful. I am supposed to be going on holiday a week on saturday, almost 7 weeks after the PPR email, you would think that'd be plenty of time since the letter states expect to be without passport for upto 6 weeks! and I posted my passport the same day, Feb 28th!!
I think I will just email again.
ARGH!

I know it's hard and frustrating. But I can't see them feeling for our cause (well mine anyways) because I'm sure they are faced with these emails every day and will only feel sympathetic towards people who are in urgent situations such as a death in the family. We'll try anyways but I'm not holding my breath. I can see them right now reading my email and saying "silly girl, we told you not to do it until you got your passport back".

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you pinklady as well as everyone else who has been waiting for many weeks to get their passport back. Goodness, I would feel naked without mine! My poor husband can't leave the UK at all right now! At least the weather has been really nice over there.

Try to stay positive as there still is time....

Isn't there a way to get a temporary (paper) passport quick-smart from the passport office in London?
Good luck.

Hi

has anyone who has lived in Canada on a visitors visa not had to do an RCMP check? I have not had one done and now i am getting worried.
