Well I have some good news! Just picked up my COPR from the post office :) Technically it arrived yesterday so that is a day over 15 months end to end.

A couple of notes: My medical was extended to May 2016, although I plan on making a trip to Niagra this weekend to land. I was granted conditional PR, despite the fact we had been living together for 4 years when I applied, although married a little under 2 so that number took priority.

Happy the wait is finally over.

Congratulations

Wow. I really get no luck. Now at Rainbow Bridge and they tell me I could be waiting 6-8 hours to land... because "it's not a priority here". They very kindly let me know I can enter under my work permit and book an appointment instead :(

It's not like there are 100s of people waiting ahead of me, so hopefully that's just BS to scare people off. Let's see - going to wait it out a while and see if there is any movement.

Not a happy landing so far :(

Oh no! You really do not have the luck! Hope they smarten up and get you processed soon, that's all you need as the cherry on the cake. Its not like you can get an appointment at an office inland anytime soon.... Wow

Ok.. I'm getting processed now! 2hr 15 min wait... nowhere near the 6-8 hours they quoted! As I suspected a scare tactic to push people towards appointments.

Will all be done soon.

All done. The officer apologized for the wait at least. Happy now :)

Good luck to everyone else waiting!

Hey all! Just got a few questions to ask.

Mississauga received our application in late November last year, so I'm expecting with the current rate of London for us to get a DM about November/December time. That being said, I am planning to fly out to Canada in October and stay at my wife until I receive my COPR, or until about January 22nd. So, here are the questions I want to ask;

1) When I enter Canada, is their any advantage to registering as Duel Intent? I've visited Canada and stayed for about 4 months before, so what difference does Duel Intent make? It seems like its the same, the only difference being you inform the officer that you are also applying for PR.

2) Will the COPR be delivered to my UK address, or to my representatives Canadian address?

3) Think the London slow down will get worse? It seems like July, Aug, and Sept should process fast as there is only 18 applicants for those months. There is 17 for the whole of June. (According to the spreadsheet) I'm trying to be optimistic about this, but I guess I might be thinking into it too much.

Cheers for your help, and thanks for keeping the forum alive and the spreadsheet updated. I don't post often but I lurk here all the time to see how everything is moving :)

If you decide to stay in Canada i would definitely change your address so your corp can be posted to Canada . You can also change your address if you are here three months, but i wouldn't go back and fourth just eliminates the risk of it going missing.

As for the slow down don't know if it will get better, fingers crossed it will . Lots of applicants are not on this forum . If there was only 17 i would be jumping for joy too .

As for duel intent i can't see the point being visa exempt as long as you have a return ticket . I would suggest you have some documents on hand just incase they ask you. y husband has been coming back and fourth for 3 years and have had no problems.

Hi everyone,

We're about 2 weeks away from submitting our application.

We've been apart for 2 years and the thoughts of potentially another 28 months apart is so depressing.

I've read a few posts on here.
Does anyone think that the province you intend to settle in has any impact on how long your case takes to process?
It seems to be the luck of the drawer as to where your file gets transferred to, so I'm just being nosey...

We'll be joining my hubby in NS.

Any thoughts?

Finally on a computer and can respond to some stuff. Not being able to do replies at work is depressing and replying from my phone i sjust a faff. But I digress.

There's no difference in terms of the stamp, etc, it's simply you declaring that you have two intentions on the visit: First is to enter as a visitor, second is to stay permanently as evidenced by your PR application. It basically means you aren't lying or trying to hide anything from immigration. It's just a mechanism for them to process you and give syou an idea of what you need to ensure yo uare let into the country. The wiki article on British Expats has a whole section on Dual Intent, give it a good read before yo ufly as it outlines what you should have with you and what you should say to CBSA.

2) Will the COPR be delivered to my UK address, or to my representatives Canadian address?
If you used a representative, then it will go to that person.

3) Think the London slow down will get worse? It seems like July, Aug, and Sept should process fast as there is only 18 applicants for those months. There is 17 for the whole of June. (According to the spreadsheet) I'm trying to be optimistic about this, but I guess I might be thinking into it too much.
No one can predict the future. A number of years ago processing times were about a year, then they dropped to 4ish months, then climbed up to 6, then dropped again, then jumped when the Islamabad thing started happening. What will happen in the future is anyone's guess. As for numbers, don't read into that too much - the spreadsheet only represents a fraction of applications submitted, it's just people who happen to post on here, not even lurkers for the most part have their info on there. (To those lurking, I say again, adding your info to the spreadsheet is the best way to say thanks for the free advice you receive!)

Cheers for your help, and thanks for keeping the forum alive and the spreadsheet updated. I don't post often but I lurk here all the time to see how everything is moving :)

Province - no. Quebec might take marginally longer because of the extra steps and paperwork but overall it doesn't seem to have any material effect. As far as we can tell, it's luck of the draw (not drawer!). CIC might have some method for deciding which apps go where, but we are not privvy to that info.
