My wife is from Nepal and she is now in London, UK. She did her university from India. I need her Indian PCC to sponsor her.

I think CIC's website has information on how to apply for a police certificate (assuming that's what PCC is) - you don't apply for that from CIC, you apply for it form the relevant party in India. Check CIC's website for information on how to obtain a police certificate from India.

I know the process, but not sure if they need the original passport to be deposited with them during the entire processing time. This is not mentioned neither in CIC nor IHC websites.

CIC's website tells you who to contact in India to get a PCC. So, contact the appropriate office, and they will tell you what you need. Seriously, this is not that complicated. You need to do a bit of research and work yourself, you can't rely on the rest of us to do it for you.

I went to Google and typed in "Requirements for indian police clearance certificate". Within 5 minutes I found a site that listed the requirements for applying. I am purposely not posting that link, though, you can do some research yourself. Answers are not going to be handed to you.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.

I think there is some misunderstanding, I know about the process and documents needed. As per their website they need original passport, however it is not clear if they hold passports during the entire processing time. This can be explained by only high commission staffs (not answering phone calls) or applicants who have applied PCC previously at the high commission. Just asking a simple thing, if anyone, who has gone thorough the same and applied in person, can s/he share experience.

Please note that I you do not have to share information such as what documents do I need to submit, how to fill form, where to submit documents, how long it takes. I can find such info through their website, just need to know something that is not explained anywhere.

You would have saved some confusion had you specifically stated that you were doing this through the High Commission of INDIA in the UK. It looks like people assumed you were referring to the Canadian High Commission.

As for your query, it's very clearly answered on the IHC website. It seems you didn't bother to actually scroll down past the passport requirement to the section entitled Time Frame for Service.

So answer for my query is, there is no one who applied and was under the same situation as I am. Whoever is replying are just like me goggling and getting info. Sometime, in hand experience is far better, non-ambiguous and complete than information in website or in the Internet, which I was looking for in this thread.

There is no point in arguing ... you guys assumed that the applicant (my wife) is an Indian passport holder. That is not the case. My case is for non-indian passport holder, who never held an Indian passport. They mentioned I need to submit original passport, but I wonder they hold it throughout the processing time (7-8 business days).

Anyway, thanks for those who helped by answering, providing suggestions, whatever that were, and finally trying to find out where I missed to read in IHC website. Wishing you all have a speedy PR process.
