Decision made as of today!! Really hoping for the COPR sooner rather than later now...

Was really losing faith in CIC after drawing one of the shorter straws with timelines and receiving 2 'emails in error' from them since March. Not ideal.

Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting from late 2013 / early 2014.
Got your update, thank you!

Out of curiosity, how long did you wait for your appointment after getting your COPR in the post?
I didn't get my COPR in the post, they gave it to me today. I got Decison Made the same day I got the email for the appointment, Nov. 19th. I just had to bring my pictures with me.

Hey All,

(and congrats to those recently approved!)

Wondering if anyone has some thoughts on our timeline..

I am a Canadian, my husband is German. We were living in the UK when we decided to move to Canada.

We applied through London in early April 2014.
At the time, all documentation was submitted (medicals, police checks, etc)
I was approved to sponsor him May 8, 2014.
We received notification to pay the RPRF on Oct 24, 2014.

Of course, this makes you feel like all is said and done but we actually do not know how long we need to wait now to receive the actual PR.

Also, when I log into the CIC to check on the status with my name, I can see the approval for sponsorship and only that.
When we log in with my husbands name (We have not changed/aligned names yet), it gives us an error and has done so for some time now.

Has anyone had any issues with this?

Thanks!!

it IS that error, Andrew-brit!

Though we use the same UIC number that was provided to me.. Perhaps we each have a different number and I have overlooked that.

Otherwise, I am entering the birthdate and his last name correctly.

Yes, both the sponsor and the applicant each have their own UCI number.

CIC will only create a UCI for you once, and then they will use that in all future correspondence. Generally they will only create a UCI (or use an existing one) when they contact you.

I presume the applicant has not received any correspondence from CIC?

Basically there are 3 ways to check ECAS

  • Use the sponsor UCI and the sponsor's details (their name, date of birth, country of birth)
  • Use the applicant's UCI and the applicant's details (name, dob, country)
  • Use the file number assigned to the application (you can get this from the sponsor approval letter/email) and the applicant's details.

Thank you so much andrew-brit. We have never received anything with my husbands UCI on it and we are using an immigration consultant (sometimes I regret this, but that is another post) so we do not receive much directly.

I *did* use the Application number just now and was able to log in!
Sadly, this has told me that they have not changed his status to 'decision made' yet and it remains at 'Application Received'.

I hope that because they've requested and received the RPRF that that means he IS approved... but we just need to wait a bit longer?
They don't ask for that money otherwise, do they? Not that we have reason to doubt the approval..

Has anyone applied Indian PCC from their High Commission in London, UK?

If yes, do they keep our passport while processing PCC.

Please share your experience if you have any.

I am glad you could log in!

It is a positive action, them requesting the RPRF, but remember that a lot of people pay that fee upfront, so it is not the case that paying the fee means you are guaranteed to be approved.

However, just hang in there a little bit longer, you will hear something soon!

Ha, i guess we have no choice! :D

Just to double check.. there is a PR Visa fee.. and THEN a RPRF fee... correct?
I want to make sure we aren't just shoveling money their way for no reason! :p

These are the fees you need to pay (assuming you have no dependents)

$75 (for your wife to be evaluated as your sponsor)

$475 (your fee)

$490 (RPRF)

It seems like they request it whenever and for whatever reason. I had my RPRF requested in April, got DM end of September.

That doesn't mean anything for you but it shows that it seems to be different from case to case.

Yep. That's what we paid. Alright, we'll just sit tight and I shall update when I hear anything! Thanks again!

Jeepers, I sure hope it doesn't take that long! And I'm sorry to hear it did for you!
Here we started getting all excited that it would come soon and even (foolishly) making plans! Whoops! :D
