Well we landed on Saturday....
OMG did we not think that thru very well...Saturday of the last long weekend of the summer...
First off we were misinformed about exporting the vehicle...we were told that we could export anytime, but when I called to confirm everything on Friday, we were told no you can't, you can only do it at Port Huron/Sarnia border M-Th 8-8, Fri 8-1.
I called and finally got a supervisor, who approved us to export the vehicle on Saturday, but no one even him explained we had to go to a different building to export the car...grrrrrrr
We got an awesome officer there, who had to run cuz there happened to be an Armed and Dangerous alert at one of the booths so all ran off...(packed office and line out the door waiting). She came back and did everything for us....
We get to the Canadian side of the border and low and behold the waiting area for immigration is FULL of people needing tourist visas to come visit for the weekend.....the girl at the booth, who again was great when we told her what we were doing, laughed and said you had to pick the busiest day of the year to do this did you???
2 hours later we get an older officer who started the landing process and then passed everything off to the younger officer to do all the computer work....
We had to pay $100 plus tax on the car based on the fact it has AC in it, they didn't even ask for the recall clearance information. Hubs went and paid that, when he was done, the officer had all of his paperwork finalized and said have a good day....
I was disappointed because no one other than myself said welcome to Canada, and that was when we got back in our car.....
So hubs is official now and legal to live and work.....
