What is the difference between Application received and In process status?

My husband status have been described as Application received at the website since March 31, 2011. Does it mean that the buffalo office has not even opened the file and therefore, we don't have any case# or file #? What is the average time to change the status from Application received to IN process?

Thanks!

From what everyone says ecas is very inconsistant. My app is from Feb. and still says app. recieved. But when I emailed Buffalo about something they replied with a F file number. Some people have got residency and ecas still said app recieved.

Congrats. I hope this is because they just got around to updating e-CAS now and not that your application has been waiting for 5 months for someone to look at it. You're not on the spreadsheet - do you want to be added?

Ecas update: In process as of August 17th and medical results received!!!! (We really needed this dash of hope today <3)

Ours has been "in process " for two weeks :( I'm getting impatient now!! I'm considering emailing and asking if they have our medical.

I heard caips notes can delay your application? Any truth to that???

As long as you pick the "Electronic notes (information abroad) CAIPS" (or FOSS Electronic notes) and not the Visa File it does not cause any delay. The Access to Information and Privacy Request is sent to Ottawa and they just bring up your file and do a print screen so no one in Buffalo is bugged.

The search function here does not do well for finding a post in a thread! :(

I'm looking for the contact info to have Ottawa send the medicals to a VO (in this case, Buffalo). I know it was posted here before, but I can't find it on immipedia or here, through Google or the site search.

Does someone have it on-hand?

Can I ask why are you doing this?
The VO's already have the process fully documented, the offices make these request all the time.

Another ghost e-cas update this morning. My address is gone... again. Still says "received March 24th"...

*sigh* :'(

There had been some talk on this thread several pages back about medicals not finding their way by at least a few people (if I remember correctly).

Since Buffalo has shown an awful propensity for losing documentation, it seemed like a good thing to do.

I know it's not the conclusive source, but e-Cas has never said anything about our medicals being received, so rather than risk the delay that potentially comes about, I figured I'd be pre-emptive.
