While studying in Buffalo, I used to go over to the canadian consulate for TRV a lot, my advice would be to go over to the main reception/floor. There would be a man who would check your passport and give you a sticker to stick on your shirt and then he should direct you to stand near the wall just before the Elevators. Dont wait at Tim Hortons....you should be standing across the wall from where you take a left and go towards the elevators.

At least as of mid-May, if you arrive before they open, the guards tell you to wait downstairs, behind the escalators, by the Tim Horton's.

Congrats Rinnerz, Puzzle69 and anyone else who got PPR recently. All the best to those still waiting!!!

Boomerang, I'm so sorry about your loss. I know how you feel, on my birthday my grandmother passed away and later that night we learned we got PPR, it was a bitter sweet day. Time helps with the healing process.

Update: My husband has yet to land, he has two job interviews tomorrow so hopefully, good news will come from this. The sooner he gets a job in Toronto, the sooner he moves here to live as a married couple. Will update you when he lands.

Best of luck!

Ok, I see, I am not aware if they have changed it since May 2011

We had an F file number and when we got PPR we were switched to both an F and a B I sent a file inquiry last Thursday and we got PPR yesterday..Worth a shot I'd say :) Here's hoping you get something soon :)

Thanks for pointing that out! I just noticed our e-mail requesting PPR had BOTH and F# and a B#! I'm not sure what that means. I once thought the F stood for Family Class, but that's just a guess....I never polled anyone to see how they were set up.

GOOD NEWS PEOPLE!! I just got an email from Buffalo to let us know that our application is IN PROCESS and we got a File number!! Finally i can see things are moving!! I sent an email to the VO on the 8th and they replied today!!!

so after emailing like 100s of time I finally got a response from Buffalo

Good Afternoon,

Your file number is FXXXXXXX

Your RPRF has been received.

Your application is in process. No further action is required by you at this time.

We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.

Regards,

Canadian Consulate General Buffalo

Dont know what to make of it, some folks have also got a BXXXX right? is this good progress?

Greetings all,

I've been a bit of a ghost reader for a while I suppose, trying to stay away but finding myself checking the forum daily anyway. So I ought to at last make myself known and throw myself out into the crowd (and onto the spreadsheet).

I couldn't resist the temptation today in seeing some of you having success in contacting Buffalo directly and receiving a file number in response, so I just sent off my own and am hoping for the same success!

I received an email from Buffalo requesting a background check done in Canada through the RCMP. Has anyone else received this and how did you handle it? Today I called RCMP, they said to go to Niagara Regional Police, they said go to this fingerprint service in Niagara Falls. So I guess I will venture to the Falls on Monday.

Love-Buf-Wings,

Thanks so much for your thoughts...I'm sorry you had to experience this, too. I am glad that he is not suffering...and, as you say, time will help. We also have lots to do to prepare for the move, so I guess being busy will help, too.

Thanks, again. Best wishes to you and your family! Enjoy Canada!

Hadn't been here in a few days...

Congrats ocu_canadian and puzzle 69 and others! Glad to see so much movement recently!

Thanks to all who are sharing their landing and passport delivery stories. I'm in Texas, so Express Mail is my story. :)

Just a note...the instruction page link I received in my e-mail for PPR titled "Instructions for passport submission" had a clause at the very end of the page:

"Passports will be returned to you via US Postal Service regular mail unless you use one of the premium services described above. WE WILL NOT USE FedEx, UPS, PUROLATOR OR ANY OTHER COURIER COMAPNY ENVELOPES - EVEN IF THEY ARE PREPAID BY CREDIT CARD OR ACCOUNT NUMBER."

This is the "above" to which they are referring:

"NOTE: If your address is in the USA, we strongly recommend that you supply a return envelope for your pasports using the United States Postal Service's Express Mail service."

Just thought I'd point out that they don't seem to want to use anything but USPS:

And, the wait for my landing story will be a long one....all of you all will land before I do, since I have to wait to sell the house. We needed to finish the floors and then put it up for sale, but we thought we had lots of time because the website said it took 11 months. Now we're just about done and the house isn't even listed yet! Ooooh I'm in such a hurry! My husband is leaving in August and I can't wait to join him up there.

Good luck to all of you. I was not so lucky. Buffalo lost my CSQ, so I dont know when I am going to get PPR.
Oh no! That's terrible - did they send you an e-mail to tell you this? Or did you have to ask them?

what did you ask? did you ask specifically about the CSQ, or just a general check on your status?
