Well, I'm here! 1 HSBC Centre! I'm the first one here. I think I took the wrong elevator... two security people told me to turn around and take another elevator to the lobby, and wait for CIC to come and get me. I'm enjoying some Timmies right now.

<3 my Timmy Tims. :D

That much coffee and the excitement - you will be bouncing off the walls :)

Woooowww. You're there even before we were. Super early. I would go wait at the bottom of the escalator closer to to 7:30. Some people will just line up at 7:30 upstairs at the right side of the front desk upstairs where they sign you in and be first.

Hey Tree,

Sorry for taking so long to write back. I got it via regular mail.

I left Chicago at 3PM.... got to Buffalo at 3AM.

No offense to any New Yorkers, but this... place... sucks.

CIC chose a perfect hell for our applications to sit and rot for months at a time.

I'm running on roughly 2 hours of sleep. I'm heading to the Consulate in a little bit, hoping to be first in line.

Ugh.

Pharoh, I studied in Buffalo so I very well know what u mean. HSBC center is the only saving grace in that downtown, seems like no one has touched it since 1950s. Brings back memories of visiting HSBC center for Visitors visa, hopefully will be there soon for PPR. Good luck for today!!

Does anybody have a box of kleenex. Still nothing for me.

:'(

Congrats to all those who got PPRs tho...

I'm starting to feel like I am the only person left from the beginning of 2010. wahh.

PS. I know I've read on here before how to order CAIPS and I've put it off more than I wanted to. But I need to order ASAP and see what's going on. Does anybody have a link for the form and which number to fax it to? Thanks in advance.

I am so sorry that you are still waiting. I keep checking this thread hoping to see that you have received PPR. I want to see everyone from our cohort landed before I retire from this thread.

Sending speedy processing vibes your way.

Hi! My Canadian husband and I got married on February 19th 2011. I am American wanting to immigrate with my 2 children from a previous marriage. We just sent our application in TODAY!
No health problems
Legal custody clear
all hoops jumped though

I am so pleased to see that the processing times from Buffalo seem to be shorter than the 12 months the immigration website posts.

I teach high school and REALLY want to be able to land before the next school year begins! Is 6 months a ridiculous expectation?

I sent absolutely EVERY possible piece of documentation in and crossed every T and dotted every i!

Are there any stories about timeline that fit my situation?
Thanks!

Hey Janamay,

I was married on 07-08-2009 and we submitted our application on 07-29-2010. I have a child from a previous marriage and we have no health problems. I'm in my mid-thirties. I have seen lots of people get through Buffalo in 6 months - but I'm still waiting. I got a call from the Consulate's office last week (they left a msg) and part of the msg was that they are trying to finalize my file. Did you get a notarized letter of consent from your children's father to move permanently to Canada? It's been a while since I'd gone to the website that offers the timeline - the last time I checked, it indicated most files are processed within 11 months? I don't think it would be much longer than 6 months.

Lina

Your case seems pretty straight forward, it seems like most people are receiving their visas on a 3-7 months average. Though you should be prepared for worst case scenario. I was sure that I was going to be able to get mine within 6 months and I'm just a few weeks short of 12 months now. Though I have applied under conjugal partners because I could not meet the 1 year cohabitation period required for commonlaw because I have been attending University in the states. (which could be why there has been a delay, who knows) I am 21, my spouse is 32, we have been together for about 3 years now.

Anyways. Not trying to burst your bubble, I'm sure you'll be fine. Just be aware that it could happen unfortunately. (Hope that helps!) Good luck!

Thanks that's so sweet of you! You just made my day. I've just filled out my CAIPS and am sending it off today as soon as I can get to a fax machine.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Don't forget to wear green! *Cyber pinch* if you forgot to wear green ;) Cheers!

Have you investigated the teaching certification requirements for the province you plan to live in? In some/most provinces, you must have Canadian teaching certification to teach in a regular high school.

Any news from Buffalo today? Any PPRs? Maybe next week :)

No PPR's but couple of people from December thread got their AOR !

Im still waiting for the AOR.... :(:(

Pharoh, I'm so excited for you! Do they have roll up the rim over there? I've already won 2 free coffees here lol. I wonder how far it would to drive to Buffalo from the northwest?

Hey Lina! Thanks for the feedback. I am lucky. I have full legal custody of my children and was able to send the divorce decree to prove it. I am hoping that will be enough! We will be living in Calgary and I will be able to apply for teaching jobs as soon as I am legal. I don't want to be without work for very long!

I am amazed at how complicated this crazy process is! It would be easier for him to move to Texas and get a green card in the U.S.! He has a much better job which is why we are moving this direction! I am so frustrated!

I'm sure we will know eachother well by the end!
Thanks,
Jana

Hi Everyone! I finally finished my husbands paperwork and entire package today and was able to mail it out today as well. Postal Office says it should get to Mississauga next Monday! Hopefully it'll be a smooth process for us. He's an American citizen and I was born and raised in Toronto. I've double and triple checked everything so hopefully there are no issues and the only letters we will receive are the GOOD ones :) We're crossing our fingers and toes that it'll only take a couple of months but we will see!

How big/small was your application?? Ours was about 3 inches thick :o

hehe I must ask. Which game did you meet your husband in? I met mine playing World of Warcraft. :P
