Congrats!! Did you bring proof you had or did they have your file with the original proof at hand?

I had taken all the proofs again mails, chats, phone records, bank statements, tax docs, wedding albumn, other photos, trip taken together etc.. any and everything prooving our genuine relationship.. they had a few of those which we had send originally with the application..

I hadn't wanted to take a chance that I would miss one thing and that would cause a problem... so I took everything (my 2 yrs of life in 25 lbs)

I sent an email to CIC Buffalo re: the request for another FBI clearance when we haed submitted one in March. No response. I also sent for another clearance from the FBI and emailed to the 2 addresses I have seen floating around this site. Any other help you can offer?Anyone know anything else that I can try?

Buffalo didn't reply? My husband emailed (buffalo-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca) and got a reply 2 days later. He also sent a case specific enquiry, https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=buffalo. We got a reply from there 3 or 4 days later.

From our experience, they reply quickly. We emailed twice before about address changes. Not sure why the're not replying to you.

SCsquare has a couple of email addresses she used for the FBI clearance, let me look it up.

mih @ leo.gov, asheppa2 @ leo.gov are the emails SCsquare suggested for the FBI.

Call them at 304-625-2000

Got an update from Buffalo -- preliminarily they said they won't need an interview, and reminded us we are missing our FBI clearance (which is basically the big holdup) and that we have 90 days to get it in. FBI of course still dragging their feet like molasses in January. Hopefully soon.

@ adetia9

did buffalo email you ? or sent you a letter abour the update

how did you know that

thank you

Hi amine -- letter in the mail, I've never gotten an email from them.
I tried calling the FBI yesterday, they are SO unhelpful!!!
Its useless to even try calling them in my experience.
That's my main concern atm since they gave a 90 day deadline in the letter I got, but there's no prayer I will have the FBI thing, i think... well maybe a slight prayer, but, doubtful. they seem totally disorganized. :/

I sent my application in and they received it April 27th, 2010. My boyfriend (Canadian Citizen) was approved to sponsor me about 7 weeks later. I am now approaching the 3 month mark, and crossing my fingers that I hear back soon for PR in Canada.

Me: I am 20 years old
Him: 30 years old.
Us: Been dating for just over 2 years. I lived with him (according to immigration, unofficially) for about 6 months without any visa in BC, Canada to look for work to obtain a TWP. Did not succeed and was issued a visitor record and had to leave Canada by January 3rd, 2010. Since then have finished med exam, police clearance, FBI clearance, and all else looks good. Should be no problems. We applied as conjugal partners because we were unable to apply as common law. We applied 'outside of Canada'. Application has been forwarded from Mississauga, to Buffalo. Hope that it will all work out so that I can move back to BC and then apply for common law status and live my life with my honey.

Wish you all luck and good prayers and thoughts! I know it's really hard. Immigrating is soo tough on the heart! So keep your chins up and hope for the good stuff. I know I am!

:D

Kerianne,

I was also issued a visitor record and had to leave Jan 3rd. I went to Ottawa 12/14/10 and stayed 3 weeks because the first time that day an officer sent me back so I went to Buffalo and got all the documents I needed because I wasnt going home that easily after catching the bus 20 hours lol and attempted to go back again after like 8 hours gathering everything I need and they let me in but for 3 weeks so I came back Jan 3rd. Then I went back on a visit Feb 25th but this time with everything I needed and told them I was staying 6 wks but I actually ended up staying 12 weeks (I didn't have a visitor record) so now I am curious if I go back for a visit Sept 1st will this cause me problems with entering or with the whole sponsorship process or as long as I have all the right documents to prove I am coming back will it be ok, does anyone know? Thanks in advance :)

If you didn't have a Visitor Record and they didn't indicate any shorter period in your passport, it shouldn't matter at all if you stayed for 12 weeks instead of 6. If there is no stamp or a stamp with no date, you are good for 6 months. If there is a stamp with an earlier date, you have to follow that date.

It doesn't really matter how long you originally planned to stay, as long as you don't stay beyond what you have permission for.

Wanted to share my story and the timeline since I have gotten a lot of helpful tips from this site and would like to contribute.

I am a US citizen, born outside the US. He was born and raised in Canada.
We are both in our early 30s, he is a year older. First marriage for both, no kids.

Met online in the summer of 2007, met in person a couple months later.

Have been flying back and fourth every month and half to see each other. Met our families and friends. Married in the winter of 2010. The wedding was not traditional, just a romantic spot with the minister and the photographer present (due to family being scattered all over US/Canada).
Filed in April.

…. my file was transferred to NYC after a month and a half of being in process in Buffalo!
I have selected NYC as my preferred interview location in the application, so I am afraid they will ask me to come in for an interview.
