Hi! Ottawa seems to be a big black hole with things just taking a while these days. If it helps, you aren't alone in waiting for them. There's several people on the forums who had interviews already scheduled but they got cancelled with Buffalo's closure and they are waiting too.

If they finalize your file and are ready to make a decision on your file other than the medical results having expired and your medical results are less than 15 months old, your visa officer can request an extension. Otherwise, you will need to redo the medical exams (sorry to be the bearer of bad news :()

Good luck ...hang in there!

I organized my e-mail inbox and the like and decided to show that LA and Ottawa DO reply once in a while. Here's the photo:

Sorry it's so small, not sure how to make it bigger haha

Landing?

Hi there,

My husband's passport has arrived with his landing papers so he plans to cross any day now! Yayyyy!

My question is... do I have to go with him to land? Or can he do this on his own? I did try to find this information out online but i was having no luck... please let us know if anybody has done this without their sponsor there!

Thanks you :)

Congratulations!

Your husband can land on his own - he has the COPR and his passport, so all he needs to do is have them confirm he is landed at the POE. Remember, if he's going to import anything, he will need to take the B4/B4A forms along with him for personal property. Other things (like importing cars or firearms) have considerably more paperwork involved.

Now the rest of us can sit around and be envious of you.

Oh perfect! that means he can go while i'm at work. We sent ours off in February so i'm suprised how quick the whole process was. I hope its that quick for everyone else applying!

We need to do some homework on the car import thing though. Thank you for mentioning that and for your quick reply!

I have a section on importing car in the new US Outland applicant thread FAQs including a link to my post with step-by-step instructions :)

Take a look at http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/thread-for-outland-buffalo-applicants/-t106068.0.html;msg1489429#msg1489429

Hey everyone, so I just wanted everyone to know that my status just changed to "In Process" on September 7th! I can't believe it, I thought it'd be another month before I heard something. ;D

Congrats! That's another exciting step.

You sent yours in more than a month after we did, so surely we'll be "in process" soon too. I so don't get their system. But good for you, it'll be interesting to see how long the rest of the process takes, make sure to keep us posted.

I have been in Canada for 8 months to live with my Fiance. I am a US citizen and we dated for 4 years, seeing each other 2 times a month. I drove here with full intentions of getting married and completing the Inland Family Sponsorship, but due to some financial problems, we have had to delay the marriage and the cost of Sponsoring me.

Now our relationship has taken a terrible dip in the road. I am trapped in an abusive relationship. He drove and wrecked my car and I cannot afford to fix it. I have a degree in finance but i have been working cleaning houses to help with food and rent but not enough to live on and i don't have PR status or work permit since we were going the family sponsorship route.

Bottom line, I have no family in the US and have lost contact with any friends that I could possibly help me. I don't have the funds to fix my car nor the money for transportation to the US if i even had someplace to go there.

Should I go to the nearest police station? Any consulate in Calgary? Will they just take me to the border and drop me off homeless with no food or money? Do I lose my car at our apartment?

Please, what options do I have? I do the accounting for the cleaning company i work for and they would pay me very good to be the office manager but i have to have a work permit and from what I have tried to do, they would not be able to hire me due to LMO restrictions.

Any advice or help or where to look and ask would be helpful. I never thought this would ever happen but it did.

I'm trapped in a country with no family and an abusive man.

Dazednlost: I don't know why you are seeking sympathy on here, I don't feel any for you. You are an adult and made an adult decision to come here. You are working illegally, with no regards or respect for our laws but you want us to bail you out? Canada is not responsible for you, you are! I can't believe that you have the audacity to thumb your nose at our laws and expect us to what...give you some cash to set yourself up back in the U.S.? You say you have a degree in finance. Hmm you'd think someone with that amount and type of education wouldn't get themselves into the trouble you are in. Did you not have insurance?

If you suffering abuse, there are women's shelters that you should be able to seek help at. Call a local hospital, they usually have numbers where you can call someone. I don't think they care if you are a citizen or not, but look at it this way, if you go to a shelter, you are taking resources away from a Canadian citizen and possibly children who may need those services.

If you do seek help at a police station, tell them you are working illegally. You should own up to your responsibilities and not just tell them what you need to tell them in order to suit yourself.

Time to grow up and face the responsibilities for your own actions.

@ dazednlost. I don't understand what you want us to do or give advice. By the sounds of your post you are working illegally and without the correct visa to be in Canada. What Canada decides to do with you is down to them. I doubt they will house, feed or financially assist you. I am pretty sure if you are in Canada illegally and you report to a police station you will very likely be deported.

You posting here about troubles you have whilst being an illegal immigrant feels like a smack in the face to each one of us who are held in a queue, waiting anxiously for any news regarding our application. I suggest you have a long hard think, head back to the U.S and think about and plan how you can come legally.
