Hey guys, my husbands PP has been in Detroit since May 22/12.. with a landing date of June 13/12. we have emailed and got the generic response as well.. We still have not received anything back from Detroit... Very frustrating and nerve racking to say the least.

I would call CIC and see what they tell you.

How do you call CIC from the states?

hi thx Parker, have been trying and can't get through.. keeps say try again later.. UGH!! NVM. am in que now.. :)

Sorry to be posting so frequently on this board, but I want to give people any new information I've received.

I got through to CIC, but did not receive any new information. The call center agent said that my file is probably in Ottawa. I told him that Buffalo indicated that my file is in Detroit. He responded that my file may be in LA if I am at the end of the process. Apparently, my passport is floating around somewhere in North America without any way to track its whereabouts. So, I asked him how I could find out the location. He said that neither he nor anyone else would be able to give me that information. I asked him when I would receive notification from any office and he said that would come in "due time". I asked what "due time" is and he said he didn't know.

The only useful piece of information I received was that I don't need to do anything to trigger an extension on my medical. I guess they decide on a case-by-case basis whether to extend or ask for a new medical.

The call center agent I spoke to, had no idea about the medical extension bulletin that was put out. OMG!! what are we dealing with? I got no where with this call.

Seriously? Good lord, call again. It seems like sometimes they train certain agents but not others. If they don't know again, tell them to check out their own website and you'll hold for them :P

Unbelievable. I am livid! They made us wait a year for PPR and now this? How incompetent are these people?! I'm sure this applies to all of us. Just stick everyone's passport in a box and who cares where it ends up.

My husband emailed Buffalo last Thursday and got an autoreply and then got a response Friday morning, stating that they were finalizing his documents and that he should receive them shortly. The email was not generic and was sign by the Buffalo Consulate, just like the PPR email. And we also got the final address update, the one with the Canadian city that was indicated on the PR application, in ecas Friday morning. So maybe you guys will get a response.

Is anyone also concerned about identity theft in this madness? My passport isn't out.. but all my other info is. I mean, if something messes up with their moving things around, it could easily happen. Like that time Sony Entertainment's customer records got messed with and people's information leaked... or a bank's merger caused people to find several boxes of information in the garbage with social security numbers and everything on it. :\

Yeah. I called them from work and immediately started crying when I got off the phone. I understand that call center agents have a difficult job and that there are a ton of applicants, so I really shouldn't be given any special treatment, but the process should be clear enough so we don't have to ask these questions. Buffalo should have sent notification to all in-process applicants so that, rather than hearing about the closure through this forum, we would have an idea about where our files are. Receiving any information would not only be common human decency, but it would actually decrease their workload because people would stop calling CIC for basic information.

yup! They can't even navigate their own website.. Our lives are in the hands of others & nothing we can do about it. Can you say "nervous breakdown"?

thanks for letting us know your story!! i feel your pain! this is craziness. i totally agree with you, that if they kept us up to date, we wouldn't have to ask them these questions and they could do what they need to! i can't believe they don't know where your passport is! (well i can believe it, but its ridiculous!)
