I have a quick question. At the time of landing in Canada, do we need to inform the US immigration as well and are we suppose to take any forms from the US immigration and submit it to the Canadian Immigration?

Good morning everyone.

My wife just got her PR approved and is preparing to make the move up North. I/we have a question. How detailed does the list we need to provide for the customs when she is bringing her stuff over.

Does everything that is in a box need to be listed (i.e. does the title of each book need to be listed and its value)?
Any other pointers would be great.

Thanks
Richard

Congrats!!!

No need to detail book by book - you can say # boxes and total value. Take a look at the new US thread - there's a set of FAQs upfront that has links to useful posts on the B4, the forms, and the CBSA instructions. It also has a section on how to import your car if you decide to do so.

We got the email this morning too with the cancellation. Interview was scheduled on June 12. We had to cancel our flights and hotels from Seattle to Buffalo. It was costing us thousands. Thanks to the Canadian Government!

Here's the mail with no apology what so ever:

Dear Madam / Sir,

This letter/email refers to the interview for your permanent residence file that our office scheduled on (DATE).

Your interview has been cancelled. The Buffalo immigration section is now closed, and will no longer be processing your file. Once your file is transferred to another office, that office will contact you with a new interview date.

You will receive notification by mail or email advising you of the date and time of the interview well in advance of the interview date. In the meantime, if there is any change in your address or in your family composition, inform us as soon as possible.

At this time, you are not requested to provide any additional documents.

Regards,

Canadian Consulate General

Immigration Section

Oh, Ambber29 and AW2011 :( I'm sorry to hear that.

If you order your CAIPS/GCMS notes, you can see notes indicating what triggered the interview. It may be worth exploring if you can submit any info to address their concerns. Good luck! I hope this gets sorted out quickly.

Hi all,

As all files are transferring to Ottawa so people living in America on temporary status or people who are not American citizen, how would they reach Ottawa for interview without Canada.visa...

They have to go through the process to get visa to enter Canada. That will take time....

Couple things:

Did you forget when filling out the app where it asked which local office you wanted for an interview in case they request one? Unless you put Buffalo, if that's even a valid answer, it would be satellite offices like Los Angeles, Seattle, Detroit, etc.

Secondly, just playing along with the scenario you gave, which seems extremely improbable, even presuming you had to get an interview in Ottawa, showing the interview request to a CBSA officer at a port of entry and explaining, I see no reason why they wouldn't allow you into Canada to take care of that.. it would without a doubt be counter-productive to the entire process.

Buffalo has had my passport since May 3rd and my medicals expire in two-weeks. Given that we are now able to extend our medicals and that the Buffalo office is closing, does anyone have a suggestion about how I should convey to CIC that if they don't send my passport back in the next few days that I need to extend my medicals? I've emailed CPP-Ottawa, but I doubt they will ever respond.

LOL the timing for stage 1 has only changed from Feb 7th to Feb 15th... even after all this time has passed. Shoot me. Shoot me now.

Hi, my husbands passport has been in Detroit since may 22nd, his medicals expire june 13th.. of course in the letter they sent for the PPR they stated no extensions. But that was before this new medical extension comes into affect june 1st.. I have a suspicion that we will probably get an extension on the medicals as it is unreasonable a time limit now for us or you for that matter to be ready to go ... So having said that, when my husband sent his PP, he also sent a cover letter stating the obvious of sending it back ASAP, (still waiting I might add) but also asked for an extension even though they said no extensions. So we shall see.. Other than my opinion, no one really has an answer for me or you for sure. so now we must do what it is we have been doing and that is wait some more, as hard as that is we have no choice.
Take care, lets pray we get some news soon..
Lasiar :)

nightmare...
I got my PPR a month ago, sent photocopies of my passport (right away a month ago too), and now (while I was thinking I'd receive my COPR any day in the mail now), I've just received an email from the VO requesting a criminal check from Canada to continue the processing of my application...(I am currently visiting in Canada - but visa exempt)... so I guess I am not done...

That's crazy! I hope they don't do that to me... I've been in Canada since last year and will be for the next year.

I don't know if we can do much about it as applicants, but immigration has the option to extend. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob423.asp
