Hi all,

Can I visiti canada on visitor visa while I have received my Passport request?

Can I visit canada on visitor visa after have my landing documents? I mean not landing but just going to canada on visitor visa?

I had emailed cic about my file status few days ago and they didn't reply exactly to what I asked. They just told me that my file is in process and they cannot exactly tell me how much time it will take to complete. I have submitted all my documents and wanted to make sure that they receive all the documents. So is it a good idea to email them again and ask the same questions regarding my file status?

Please advise

Congratulations, Roadtrip, your husband has been approved as a sponsor! :)
They would not have passed your PR application to Buffalo if the sponsorship was not approved, would they?
Would you like me to add you to the Buffalo spreadsheet? Link is in my signature...

[/quote. GOGOGO, You can add me to your spreadsheet. Thanks.

Hi again.

My wife, the applicant, spoke to the DMP who did the her medical exam and he has confirmed that he sent them at the end of March 2011, shortly after her exam. Apparently, my wife is not the only one having issues. >:(

And you mentioned Case Specific Enquiry too in your previous post, so I think you covered most of the channels! :)
If you have a dollar or so to spare, then may be just regular mail one copy to VO, in case they wnat a physical document.
You can give your MP a copy as well.
I can't think of any other mean than knocking on their door. ;D
Hope your application will be finalised soon!

Hi jaimie11, sorry to hear that your case is taking so long.

There are many possibilities that a case is taking a long time:
1) Background check;
2) Case being put on the 'interview-to-be-scheduled' queue;
3) Additional document is required and the representative forgot to send documents;
4) ...

Have you ordered your GCMS? You may find some hints from the notes.
You can also contact your MP for help.

How do you order a GCMS? And what would be the purpose of it?
Thanks

Hi~~~I am just wondering how long does it usually take to receive passport back if I mail my passport today to fort erie?

Thank you! My husband was saying about how it's going to be difficult to do so. We'll have to try to talk to them, because getting a loan is out of the question (Seeing as he has no credit rating and mine is destroyed thanks to college days of using a visa!). Hopefully something will work. Thank you again for the information! :) Any idea when I should start working on this? My husband feels like I'm starting way too early (We JUST gave our application beginning of March) but wondering if it's okay to be trying to get it all ready for when he lands? :) Thanks again!

You're welcome :) Some things you can start on now, like seeing how/if his aunt can be on the title in the province you will be living in and reading your loan documentation. Others, like negotiating with the bank I'd hold off on until you have a sense of the timing of your move.

I mailed mine Easter weekend and the return tracking number was activated today.

Hi Jenny parsely, you should be able to visit without landing even if you've got the paper already. You can check this out for reference.

Some people think it's fine to contact with VO whenever they want, but some tend to keep communication to a minimal because they don't want to piss the VO off. It's up to you.

Another way is to ording GCMS to see if the receipt of documents is noted in the system.

GCMS stands for Global Case Management System which keeps the information about your immigration file. It shows what activities were done to your file and any notes by the immigration officer saying if your relationship appear genuine or not, if you need interview, if there is any document missing, etc.

It costs nothing if the PR applicant requesting GCMS notes is in Canada, and C$5 if someone else in Canada is ordering it for the PR applicant. Forms are different.

When you request it, make sure you do not ask for accessing 'paper file' because it will delay your process.

Hi Roadtrip, can I ask what date did you receive the email with Buffalo signture block please?

I was hoping someone could offer insight, since I am confused by the information I've received about my application. My husband got an email saying our application was received in Mississauga on Jan. 4. Ecas shows a decision was made on his sponsorship eligibility and that a letter was mailed to him March 22. A month later we still have received no letter. However, I did get an email that stated my application was received on Jan. 2. The signature block said Buffalo, but the email doesn't actually say that Buffalo received it, which is what I expected. Can I assume my husband was approved as a sponsor and the file was forwarded to Buffalo?

Hope you don't need to do another medical! Finger crossed for you!

CONGRATS BBIERY!!! I've been "stalking" you on the spreadsheet as I'm in the line next to yours hehe :) I know it doesn't help me but it does make my crazy mind feel better ;)

ALL THE BEST TO YOU!! I am so happy to read this this morning! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Yes, hopefully yours and everyone elses comes through soon. My strategy was just to go about life as normal until it came. The less you think about it the better.

Thanks everyone else for the well wishes. I will post up my landing experience. I already have my photos and passport copies mailed out. I decided to go the safe route and just mail it.
