I just sent you a personal message. Hope you got it as I would love to compare notes.

Yes, and last name starts with "C" and is a "leader" in the field. Yeah, definitely not getting warm and fuzzies and just opened an email that took 10 days for my case worker to respond to - in which she provides a non-answer to my initial inquiry (That I Googled a solution to days ago) and tells me she's quitting and I will be getting a new (my 3rd) case worker in May. Then the rest is the standard "I know you sent your stuff in, but Buffalo moves at their own pace blah blah, lady please stop e-mailing me" email.

Sigh - Between this message board, CIC and CBSA sites and Google, we've fared better solo.

My regards to everyone getting some movement with their files. I hope to be able to relate to that excitement soon!

Yikes, was trying to respond, but it's telling me I'm not allowed to send personal messages! Is it because I'm new?

OMG - We have the same guy. Did he give you a great sales job and then completely fall down on the follow through and then try to cover up his mistakes and then never apologize to anyone for making the mistakes?

Yeah, I've deduced I'm too new for a PM but - not the one you sent. Same first name though.....

You just need 4 more posts and you can do the PM thing :). Everything pretty much unlocks around post 10.

Well I would not have been surprised if it was. Sorry there is more than one incompetent lawyer out there.

In going through my file for the 2011th time, I've realized that my husband and I got 2 AOR's for my file - one in July 2011 and one in October 2011? Anyone care to hazard a guess on which date is marker for the (loose) processing timeline. Because I was definitely banking on the July 2011.

Key is who the AORs are from. It sounds like the July one could be from CPC-M and the October one would be from your visa office (step 1 and step 2 timings run sequentially). If you also got an approval notice from CPC-M for sponsorship approval that's when step 2 starts counting.

Ah, I see. Thanks!

Mine has not been the most responsive either. Having serious buyers remorse with that. But these message boards are a god sent. Thank you everyone for all of the great info. I'd ask which lawyer you used but I'm afraid....if it's mine, i won't feel much better. "Clusterblank" doesn't even begin to describe it.

I don't know about you but I have the Canadian Lawyer Code of Conduct on my desktop and he has been sadly remiss in his service. Does your guy have a first name that starts with D?

That's really sad :(

Think about whether you believe you'll be better off going forward with your lawyer's support or without. If you prefer not to have everything go through his office, write to CIC withdrawing your representative appointment (same form, different box) and then they will contact you directly ... at least reducing delays in the process.

Good luck whatever you decide!

WOW....ohcanadiana you are a life saver!! seriously...thank you so much for this info....This is such a relief! I did read the part about fumigating it GoGoGo....thanks :) but I really didn't want to sleep on a mattress after it had been fumigated....all those chemicals :( yuck....

I am going to call CBSA on monday to double check as Ddobro2 used to say to always dbl check everything :)

I want to say thank you so much...this thread has been the key to keeping my sanity....you are all so helpful!!

cheers

Happy to help :D When you call CBSA, if the first person you speak to isn't super familiar with the details, ask to speak to a second line officer. I was trying to figure out a hairy situation and the second line support was very helpful. They even sent me the laws involved so that I could have backup when we crossed the border, proactively recognizing that the border agents have different interpretations at times (based on calls they get centrally from border experiences). I was VERY impressed.

Yeah, at this point, everything is done and submitted. I think it's a wonderful idea to have them removed at this point. They've gotten their money - there's nothing else they can really do for us at this point except relay info.

Thanks again for that, I'm getting the form now. ;)

Hello all,

So my wife mailed my application to Mississauga on Friday. I just realized that I made a mistake: I did not know how many photos to submit, so I just submitted 8. I took the photo myself and printed them off at home. They are the right size/white background/etc, but I just saw that you are supposed to write the date the photo was taken on the back of one of the photos.

What can I do about this now? I don't want this to delay the processing.

Hi apstone, which visa office are you going through?
The Country Specific Guide for US only asks for 4 photos and does not mention about writing anything at the back.
