Thanks, can you add to the spreadsheet? December 1 is the date she received it.

Good luck with the PPR's this week!

Sometimes I check to see if ddobro has his/her PPR. :P

Anyhow, I wonder how long one should wait for their PR card before contacting the CIC? I've been told a variety of things as far as waiting for the card is concerned -- 1 month, 3 months, 2-4 weeks.. crazy.

Going for xmas to see family in Detroit, our infant will be using her Canadian long form birth certificate at the border until we stop being lazy and go to the embassy/consulate to get her US citizenship.

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!

I just came on to post about how sad it is that there have been no PPRs lately, and then I spotted I had a new email. I went to look at it and IT'S MY PPR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!

I just ran around the room screaming and I'm still shaking! It took since February, but it's finally here! :D

Yeah, I found that part disappointing, but I figure beggers can't be choosers. ;)

AmericaninQuebec, is there a date on the message other than what the email client says?

No there isn't. Should that worry me? Oh please don't tell me they're going to send an, "oops we messed up" email now...

No, no, no......keep celebrating. Was wondering given that the email looked the same (we're ready to send you your visa, send us your passport, etc.). I thought it would at least say "send us copies of the pages in your passport and do x,y, and z by x when you arrive at the port of entry of your choice by x date." Oh well, add it to the ??? drawer for our lovely VO.

Well my husband landed yesterday at Pacific Crossing in Surrey, took 15 minutes. It's nice to be done, all we have to do now is import his car. Which is a little concerning, because we have gotten several DIFFERENT answers from several different immigration and border officers about how to go about it, and how much it will cost and how soon we have to do it. Its ranged from it will cost you nothing and you can do it whenever you want, to you have to do it within 45 days and it will cast around 250 dollars. So I dunno.

The import process is a bit confusing. If you send me a PM about it I will send you an old message I wrote about my import experience and all the costs involved.

Here are the basics that should clear up the confusing info you've gotten so far. There is no cost to import the vehicle as far as the border/customs people are concerned (though I have seen one person report being charged a fee for having a/c...they didn't charge me or several others who have reported their experience on the forum), but you do have to pay a fee to the Registry of Imported Vehicles (RIV) that is $195 plus tax.

You can import your goods whenever you want. There is no time limit for getting everything into Canada, but once you start the importation process (and pay the RIV fee) you have only 45 days to complete the process.

Hope that helps. As I said PM me if you want more info about costs and my experience. Allison

Okay, going to go get my photos taken in a few minutes (I can't stand to wait) and have everything ready to go for tomorrow morning so I can hit Canada Post bright and early.

Now, is it okay to send directly to Buffalo, but with an included Canada Post Xpress envelope so that it is sent back to my Canadian address? I believe someone mentioned on here that it seems like the Fort Erie address is just a receptical, and that it's only checked once a week. I would prefer to pay extra to know it's going to Buffalo directly, but I want it sent back to me directly in Canada as well. I assume it's fine doing it that way, but I'm looking for confirmation. :)
