It doesn't matter if you're a natural-born or naturalized citizen of the UK, as a citizen you have the same rights and privileges as any other British citizen. The fact that you have those rights and privileges, like the fact that I have those rights and privileges as an American citizen even though I was born in the Soviet Union, tends to mean that you have little reason to marry out of convenience just to get to Canada, as Canada and those two aforementioned countries have very much in common in terms of quality of life and opportunities. In any case, they want to hear you talk about your relationship. You should consider ordering GCMS notes to help you prepare for the questions they might ask as those notes often have information from the IO about what they have doubts about.

Sorry about the confusion i meant to say visitor record as i already been here in canada for 3 years.
I have no idea why they request it an interview for both me and my husband.
I was born in Albania and raised in Britain .
The reason I asked was because I assume most British citizens will put down "London" on their application because they expect their file to go there (and hope, I might add, since London tends to be faster than Buffalo). I can see why CIC transferred or sent it directly to Buffalo.

Im not doing an outland through london,As i said, I have been here in canada for almost 3 years
I send my application on May 2011,September 2011 my husband got approved to sponsor me,September 2011 my application was sent in buffalo,
Dec 2011 i received a letter saying an interview may be required,Feb 2012 i received my interview date for end of may
Yes, several people who have already landed had an interview. Eddy070, jacobsdennis, and Mark5 come to mind. List of possible questions is here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/search-results/-t41886.0.html;msg1268564;topicseen#msg1268564. Good luck.

I haven't heard of an instance like that before and I think it's more than likely a fluke incident. I've had three documents from CIC/CBSA all sharing the same xxxx-xxxx Client ID: my study permit, the AOR, and my COPR that's currently stapled into my passport now that I landed. When my PPR card comes, I'd be surprised it it didn't have that same Client ID. Client ID# can be found on the upper right hand side of any coorespondence from CBSA or CIC for issues in Canada. Moreover, it's unique to an individual and remains the same for life across multiple applications for temporary or permanent residence. They wouldn't intentionally assign the same UCI to more than one person nor would they intentionally assign more than one to the same person. So if that's what happened to you, perhaps it's worthwhile to bring it to their attention.

Supposed to be the same. I've already learned that I have two UCI (one for my work permit a different one for my PR application.) I thought this peculiar, but apparently it can happen.

When paying online, it technically shouldn't matter who's name goes on the receipt. You're both on the file so they should be able to trace it to your application either way. So I'd assume it would work the same way with paying through a financial institution. If fact someone on the forum once said that CPC-M will attach the receipt number under the sponsor's name anyway, so when you log in to e-CAS, it may only be possible to see the sponsor's information (includes both parts of the process anyway so it's better) using receipt number. CIC doesn't think it's that big of a deal to provide an instruction about it.

Thanks ddobro! Always helpful! :) And I was thinking it would be my name (sponsor) since my name is in the application anyway :)

I agree that it is anomalous. My original UCI was given to me on a VR (I came up to Canada as a "Seasonal Resident" and that meant issuing a VR.) It was in the same passport that I used to obtain my work permit (original UCI) as well as the FSW application. It seems to be Sydney, Buffalo or NYC (the three offices that touched my FSW application) that created a second UCI. *I* didn't notice it until I was going through the CAIPS notes for my FSW application last month. Of course, since that's now off in Federal Court (application for judicial review was filed last Wednesday) CIC doesn't want to hear ANYTHING from me about that case. I'm starting a second (spousal sponsored) application now and I'm using my original UCI.

I wish I HAD known the FSW was done under a different UCI - it would have lowered my stress level about crossing back and forth over the border (since now technically, even with a valid work permit they could stop me, cancel the work permit, and send me back to the US because of the FSW finding of medical inadmissibility.) Having it listed under a different UCI means the likelihood of them matching up the FSW rejection with the work permit would have been even less likely. Every time I cross, though, I'm grateful for having Nexus, because I don't have to speak with an IO at the POE (when flying) and the scrutiny level is lower even at land border crossings.

It will be interesting to see which UCI they use for my new sponsored application.

Hi,

I saw the spreadsheet and found it quite helpful to understand the processing times, so thanks to ddobro2 and all of you who have shared their timelines.

I don't understand how you put your timeline on your profile, but here's mine (ddobro2, I couldn't send you a pm, apparently I am not allowed to do so?) if you'd like to add it to the spreadsheet.

Med's done: 08/2011
(FBI, police clearances from other countries and Meds done before application was sent).

FAM
Application sent: 10/04/2011 (Buffalo)
Application received: 10/06/2011
Sponsor approval: 12/13/2011
File transfer from Buffalo to Seattle: 02/01/2012
"We started processing your application" : 02/27/2012

I am not sure what the Acknowledgement of Receipt refers to: when they tell you they received your file, or when they start processing it? ...The first notification I got from CIC was when my husband was approved as a sponsor, in December.

Thanks!

You're not doing anything wrong, it's just that you only have a couple of posts and you need at least 10 (I think) to add stuff on "Forum Related Information" and send a PM. So just try again after you make at least 8 more posts. I'll try and add you as soon as I can (or GoGoGo will do it, otherwise).

AOR is an email from the VO that would include your visa file number saying they received your file. It's a communication to you directly rather than an e-CAS update. If Buffalo sent you a communication saying they transferred you to Detroit, the AOR is kind of moot anyway. You know that they have received it from CPC-M and are working on it.

Sounds like your circumstances are pretty complicated. Are you positive there isn't anything in IRPA or CIC's guidelines preventing you from filing a new application for PR while the judgment on your previous PR application is being contested through judicial review? That's probably the biggest thing I'd be concerned about.
