Does anyone else feel like they are becoming obsessive compulsive when it comes to this immigration thing? (silly question, i know)

I find i am constantly on this forum checking and rechecking all the threads as if that will make the process go by faster, when really it's just driving me nuts! AND to top it all off, i still haven't even been able to send off our app yet....fbi says the clearance will come on Nov 30..ugh, more than 8 weeks :(

I think it would be best for my sanity if i didn't come on this forum or even think about the process everyday but i just can't help it!! Anyone got any advice on how to go through this waiting game without going crazy?

What do you all do to pass the time (aside from reading and obsessing over the immigration process)?

I'm only compulsive when I think the time for movement is due. And now that ddobro2's sheet shows all my time-partners approved, I'm feeling unloved. So I'll be obsessive for about a week more, then settle down for a while -- I hope.

Hey guys, got my GCMS notes today as well. Turns out they haven't touched my file since July 14, 2011 (1 day after it went into process). That's the day they supposedly received a response from the RCMP saying I had no criminal history. Everything else is listed as in progress (meds, criminality, etc.). The last note added to the file was from July 13, 2011 saying that the RCMP name check was sent that date and then, "File to Put Aways." The only thing they did after that was start a paper file on Aug. 2nd. I don't see a "bring forward" date listed anywhere.
This happened to my friend who applied in July 2010. They looked at her file when the MP inquired summer 2011 and then still did nothing for several months. Now, I have finally convinced her to get GCMS (she didn't back in Aug b/c her MP indicated that she was almost done... virtually approved) and now they are telling her they think she has TB, her meds expired, and she has to wait for them to send her the medical form she needs to go back to the DMP. Wonder if you guys have the same incompetent visa officer.

As far as how long it takes them to do an RCMP check (or anything else, for that matter), it's anyone's guess because as I've said other times: CIC, including RPC-Buffalo, is a big, black box.
I've been putting off posting my landing story, but I will say this... We had a fantastic conversation with the officer at Ft. Erie, and she seriously used the term FUBAR to describe how bad Buffalo has gotten since last year. :-X

Eh, I lost my sanity before we even submitted the application. I still poke around the forum several times a day too, I just don't post much. Reading here has become a habit!

Right, the "Procedures" manual states about AORs: "Visa offices will respond to applications for permanent residence within four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of the application. The response will include the following:
• the applicant's file number;
• the approximate time within which the application should be completed based on the category
of application; and
• other information concerning additional or missing documentation, medical examination
instructions or the possible requirement of an interview." And then they reference a sample AOR letter in the appendix.

Buffalo can't even do this, so they sure aren't going to go "above and beyond" to inform you why your case is taking so long after 6 months.

I read in one of the manuals and cant find it now. but you can ignore my statement if you wish. even if I am right , it is still not going to be followed by the visa offices , so no reason to talk about this subject anymore.

Tired of waiting and always checking on everyone here too. After contacting the MP office no reasonable update or info was provided. What a kind of waste but only to hear that we should waste 11months starting from the time buffalo received the application which will be next yr what a crap. Not sure if the MP himself is aware of all this crap and misinformation his so called staffs are providing as it not even helping but adding more frustration in the whole process. Anyone with detail on how to contact MP himself pls PM me as we not sure what the assistants are really doing not feeling lazy to contact visa offices. I wish buffalo can keep there communication effect not sure that there will be need to contact the MP office. Anyone who have been in this situation before pls PM. Thanks in advance

Obviously I'm really upset and frustrated, because it doesn't even look like they bothered to look at my file again after the MP supposedly contacted them at the beginning of October. :(

We're home at my parents' place in the U.S. for the rest of the week, but we're bringing the GCMS notes to the MP's office when we get back to see if they can at least get Buffalo to pull my file and review it. Maybe then we'll get some movement on it.
Your best bet, from what you've described, is to have the Regional Medical Centre (likely Ottawa) that would have received your medicals from the DMP. You should have them forward the medical results to Buffalo ASAP.

There's no reason for the meds to be "in progress" if they were completed a year ago.

For us, it was this very fax (and the forwarded meds) that caused Buffalo to actually look at the file and start processing it for reals.

In actuality, this is an issue of the tail coming before the horse. The PPR *was* the contact that articulated a positive decision.

Our "decision made" update came around the same time that they issued the visa -- about 3 weeks after the PPR.

Jason Kenney Is my MP and his office wouldnt do anything for me and hes the head of immigration. So I contacted another MP here In Alberta and the lady at this office is great and has helped us so much.So I would try contacting another MP close to your area and see what they can do for you.

Obviously, doctorkb already articulated what I meant, but it was that, yes, it's unfortunately e-cas tells us several weeks, etc. later what we already know. The (positive) "decision" is the VO asking for one's passport, which they would not do if they had refused the visa.
