gotcha...just read through the old posts...Looks like OP was nominated through the Alberta Provincial Nominee program in June of this year, landed and Vancouver, and is living in Toronto, and may not go to Alberta. May that cause an issue??

The fact that OP has known spouse for 3 months only...that means that OP likely knew spouse when they landed so that could cause problems no??

**Edit** they have only known each other 3 months, been married a month...either way you look at this, I think that the OP needs to be very well prepared along with the spouse for an interview....to prove the genuineness of the marriage...

thank you!

I talked to the Canadian border patrol a few days ago and was told I didnt have to pay any taxes on my vehicle that it was a one time exemption when you land. They said all I needd was the title and the letter from the finance company. But you just had to pay taxes so now Im confused.

This is my understanding of the process too (though my personal experience in early 2010 is based on a car I owned outright). I can't believe there is so much variability on something as (supposedly) clear as whether or not you have to pay tax!!

so hopefully the january and february groups get their ppr. and since i am in may group i am wondering if anyone in may group has any updates or in process.

Have you looked on the forum to see If anyone has started a thread for all the May group? If not you should start one and people will come and start telling there progress.

I wonder what (counterfoil required=Yes) means on CAIPS notes?Anyone have any ideas?

Hi everyone. Our mp contacted the visa office to get an update for our file and this is what he got back..

The applicant's file has been processed by our office and is awaiting a background check and medical results. At this time we do not require any additional information from the applicant. Please note that the background checks can take 12-18 months. If the client does not hear from our office in the next year, she can contact the office for a status update.

That's crazy! What do they mean by one year??!!
Jeeez now I'm really mad!

Don't worry about that, those are pretty specific aspects of their general processing (if that made any sense). Counterfoils are the documents on which missions print visa information, and I think they then afix seals on top of counterfoils to prevent tampering on visas.

They most certainly have, and I'm one of the "Maybies." The thread is here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/may-2011-t70809.1380.html

How Is that possible when It says Its 11months to process In Buffalo.

I don't get it! This whole process is supposed to take just under one year! How can the background check take 12-18 months?? This must be a mistake... Has anyone else received a similar letter?

I personally have not heard of anyone else getting this kind of information from Buffalo via their MP, and I'm just as lost as you are. The 12-18 month timeline is what I've heard used to describe in-land PR sponsorship. You're absolutely right that this is well beyond the total processing of 11 months for 80% of applicants at Buffalo that CIC cites.

What's your nationality (if you're not American by birth) and which countries have you lived in?

Also, have you ordered CAIPS/GCMS?

Only lived in one country after the age of 18 which is a Scandinavian country. And they are usually very quick with providing information such as background information. My case is very straightforward. Medicaid were sent in along with application... :S

No I haven't ordered CAIPS... What are those? And where do I order them from?
