question.
my wife did her fbi fingerprints.
but i see others got rcmp prints as well?
i thought we only needed her fbi prints?
We were only asked to submit RCMP prints a month after AOR. You don't have to submit them unless they ask. My husband had spent more than 6 months in Canada and that's why they requested them.

As for Buffalo, they must be playing something! They seem to have slowed down considerably... We haven't had a PPR in ages! What is going on? :'( I demand answers :D
Ya, me too! Just not sure where we could get those answers from ::)

Actually one thing I was thinking about - maybe they are waiting for the new "conditional PR" regulations before issuing a lot of PPRs (who would fall under the new rule)

I was wondering about that too. But surely not, right? Cause that would create a back log.

Its not what you want to hear, but alot of us that "just got our PPRs" have been waiting since early 2010. Honestly, nobody should count on this being a less then 6 month process going into it... its just unrealistic for the majority of people imo and sets you up for major heartbreak and insanity.

Agreed. You always have to consider both sides of the spectrum. You got people waiting since early 2010 on one hand, then you got people like Iamrobot85, Francis, Treelover, etc ---who applied in November and received their PPRs in March--- on another. The only thing we know for sure is that the process is unpredictable, and we can only hope for the best... And I'm counting on being done before September! I guess I'm a "glass is half-full" kind of person. Positivity goes a long way. ;D

When I was searching .pdf files for applying for my SIN card, I noticed that the site said that it had begun processing applications from June 2010.

SO, with that said, ANYBODY from after November should expect to hear something within the average, and MOST likely times processed. IE on the site 6-11 months. With 80% being processed within 11 months, and only about 30% within 4-6 months.

It is going to be a long and painful wait. I waited almost a year. Many that have just landed waited 15+ months. It IS great to see applications processed at lightning speed, but with the tragedies in Japan, and the government cutting back on issuing visas, I feel that applications may take even longer. Which, sigh.. none of us want. I pray for all of you a quick as possible, and as painless of a wait, but we all need to be supportive of each other in here.

Adetia- I'm taking pictures just in case (and mostly because I accidentally ordered extra..lol). Are you moving all your stuff when you land?

Guys... I just have to ask, is there Anyone reading this thread that doesn't realize that this process has the capability of lasting many months, a year, two years, or maybe never coming through with a positive result?

Anyone?

Anyone that hasn't spent nights awake worrying, and thinking about that?

We're just trying to be positive and hopeful. We're not trying to be unrealistic. We're trying to gain some information. Knowing how the other applications are processing in your timeline is helpful, so you know if you need to check with them and see if your file has been set aside, or if you're missing something.

I don't know why our hope is so offensive that we need to be stomped down three times in as many days.

I'm really very sorry that your processes have taken so long. Some of ours will be in the 30%, some of ours will be in that last 20%. We understand that. But for now, we're excited and positive. And after us will be another excited and positive wave of applicants.

Please, don't stomp on us for having hope. We've heard loud and clear about the possible (and maybe even likely) months and months of waiting.

Well, I don't really feel like being "stomped down", and I do see much merit in seeing that many people had a time line of many months (or a year) of processing.
Because actually the most frustrating thing for me is to constantly question myself "why are these guys going through so fast whereas I don't". But I guess it really depends on what type of personality you are (I am leaning on the side of "the glass is half empty").

Honestly, nobody should count on this being a less then 6 month process going into it... its just unrealistic for the majority of people imo and sets you up for major heartbreak and insanity
I really think this is valuable advice and I really appreciate it.

I love this forum and appreciate the excellent advice we get. I wish we all could have an exact same timeline but unfortunately thats not the case ! However knowing processing can vary, i guess we all are prepared for the worst case! But i am also a glass half full person and would like to go through the process knowing it could be 4 months too !! Coz it has happened...
I guess since buffalo office has suddenly slowed down...and we have longer than usual delay for everything now whether its AOR or In Process status!! Thats whats getting us so impatient and hoping it can happen soon wouldn't hurt i guess :)
So i guess let's appreciate people who have happy thoughts going around and keeping our hopes high :) and i am so thankful for the people to share their cases! Only we all can understand the painful time...and look forward to a faster processing...
My file has been in Buffalo for 10 weeks now and i havent heard a thing...but here's hoping for a good news soon :)

I'm really not trying to take anything away from those who have waited (and are waiting) for months and months and months. My heart aches for them. That is a very tough, agonizing situation. And some of us will find ourselves in it. It just seems like recently when people start to talk about how soon it could happen (and has happened) someone feels like they need to jump in and remind us that it won't be that soon. That's valid information... and I'm grateful for those people sharing their experience. But, leave us a little room for hope.

That's all I'm saying.

I think the "cutting back on visas" is actually good for the spousal applications. They won't be reducing staff, just reducing the number of files for *parental* visas that get processed each year.

That *should* mean that all other visas become noticeably faster. :)

On another note, let's take a quick look at who is on this site.

I would wager that, for the most part, we're mostly in the "do-it-yourself" category and haven't hired lawyers or consultants to do it for us.

That would tend to imply that we have "straight-forward" cases -- ones that should be processed more quickly than those that require a lawyer or consultant.

I think it's good to be optimistic -- the one thing this forum really shows is how fallible the process is. It's scary to see how many people have had some paperwork misplaced by the VO!
