We mailed our passports in on March 11. It was signed for March 14th. Our return tracker still hasn't activated. I'm a little nervous as we've now used up almost 3 weeks of our timeframe for landing and its not on its way back to us. The PPR says they generally have passports back to you within 15 days. It is unclear if that is 15 business days or actual days. I'm a little concerned, but hoping we will see it soon.
Did you send it to Buffalo or Ft. Erie, ON? I'm wondering if it's longer to send it Ft. Erie, although I see it's just over the border from Buffalo, so they probably go and pick them up there (although likely not every day). I just sent my passport to the Ft. Erie office this tuesday. I checked the tracker and it's in the Mississauga postal facility. I was confused when I first saw that, wondering why it would be in Mississauga, but I'm assuming that's a large postal facility and then it'll be sent on to Ft. Erie. Well, it made it from BC to Ontario in one day, so that's not bad. I will be anxiously awaiting the return tracker to activate like you, shortly.
I was guessing 15 days meant about 2 full weeks. I have a feeling they may mean business days though, which would mean 3 weeks. It seems some others got theirs back in about 2.5 weeks total (including shipping), if I remember correctly what some others have posted on here recently. It hasn't been 15 business days for you yet, so I wouldn't worry, and like I said, if you sent it to Ft. Erie, it might take longer than those sent to Buffalo directly. although both offices say the same thing - 15 days.
I actually forgot to write down my eye color and height when I sent my passport and photos. I emailed this information to them, so hopefully that'll be ok. I can't imagine they would return it to me without the visa because I forgot to do that! How cruel would that be?! But now I'm paranoid. Also, I'm paranoid that they'll reject my photos for some small reason, as I know they are picky about that. The guy at the photo place assured me that they were ok. Everyone who came in there was looking for immigration photos of some type or another, so I'm assuming he must know the rules well.
