Thanks Kingqatar for this I found it really useful, as although everyone is different, I went and looked at some spousal applications around this time last year, and found that some applications through London (my VO) and started on the same day as mine did had their visas before Christmas, which would be a wonderful thing for my husband and I.

Oh and I've updated the table again with the additional information, if anyone else can provide their missing VO or other information, please just let me know and I'll update it.

I am from Holland so then my VO (what ever that stands for :) is Berlin I think. (that is the office Holland has to go to for immigration Canada)
My boyfriend sent the common law family sponsor papers this week to Mississauga.. Then (how) can I use that website?

Welcome Baukjebecka,

All Sponsors are reviewed and approved in Mississauga. The file is then sent to the Visa Office (VO) so that that local office can assess the applicant (immigrant) and the validity of the relationship.

Hi BaukjeBecka, Welcome to the thread. Basically, this is just a list for us of everyone that has applied this month for the visa, and then we can keep an eye on where we are with timings for different approvals. And generally the Sponsorship approvals all go in order and so you have an idea when your sponsorship will be approved and then your file transfered and then so on...

Its a great way for everyone in the same boat waiting for things to happen to keep an eye on timings. I've added you to the list at 22nd October, hope that's okay and then once you get sponsorship approval just let us know and it will be updated. Ecas where you get all the official notifications can be signed into in about one month after your application has been sent, you just use your sponsors details and your receipt number.

If you have any other questions about the process everyone is really friendly and there is usually someone here who can help.

Great, another going through Singapore. My wife is Indonesian and I am a Canadian working in Qatar but would like to get back to Canada. I am lucky because my wife can visit and stay with me in Qatar.

Hi everyone,
Really just needed to vent a little and seems like this seems like the best place as everyone here gets it. Been having a rough weekend and everything seems to have hit me at once. We are applying outland and he is back in the UK, trying to find work. He is a recent graduate and despite, at last count sending out over 50 applications, he has only had two interviews, so we are down to living on my income which is sporadic as a supply teacher but I am thankful to at least have a job!
The financial, distance, time and worry and strain from speding our first christmas as a married coulple apart only seems to be multiplied by numerous of sympathetic “on that must be so hard” conversations that seem to have been forced on me all week by people asking when my husband is coming back. My general attitude and response has always been that we don’t have much of a choice and have never known anything different that long distance in our relationship so maybe we just weather the storm a bit easier, and truthful overall it really hasn’t been as bad as I imagined, but this week I have been thinking well thanks for bringing it up and maybe you would like to point out some more reasons why my life sucks- of course don’t say it. I know They mean well but most people just don’t get that you do whatever you can to get through the time and keeping busy and not thinking or continually talking about it is the only way to stay sane.
So anyways just a little raw today, my application was denied for me to remain with my husband in the UK last year so terrified to have to live through that again. Sorry for the rant but has been cathartic to get it off my chest hope that everyone esle is weekend is going a lot better

You know what, your rant so made me smile, because yes we all get it! And seriously, if I hear 'NEEDS MUST' or 'IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT IN THE END' one more bl**dy time, I think I will scream!

I think sometimes you just need to go with your rant, scream or my ever popular non-favourite a damn good cry at my husband over skype, which is never good!

After spending so much time long distance before we got married end of last year, I swore I would never ever go through it again, and ho hum, here we find ourselves as you are, him in Canada and me in UK for months on end. Luckily we will be spending our first Christmas as a married couple together (which is the current plan anyway), but yes, the well meaning friends who say, oh Christmas that's not so far away is it? You'll be together again soon... them I want to scream at as well!! Yes Christmas is quite far away, and no we won't be together soon its months away yet, and not even been confirmed yet! When they, my well meaning friends whinge and carry one when they're away from their husbands over a weekend. Damn them all.

Not that I begrudge them their happiness and being able to be with their partners, but its not like I thought, oh yeah, I'll fall in love with someone who lives over the other side of the world for fun, and spend loads of time apart from them as a life choice!

I concentrate so hard on getting through it and not being so damn miserable all the time, that the times when it actually hits me and I fall apart its usually quite a big crash

And really Spacey, the economy over here in the UK is so crap right now, you wouldn't want to live here anyway. We actually went through the UK visa stuff for my husband and he got it, but then although he had a great job in Canada, couldn't get one over here which was awful, so the hated phrase 'NEEDS MUST' we're doing the whole damn thing all over again for me to get to Canada and he's gone back to his great job.

But really we've gotta think 'IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT IN THE END' or seriously how many of us would put ourselves through this.

Oh dear, sorry about that, this ranting must be catching, I thought I'd write a supportive post and just started myself.

Just know we understand, and really I think its good to have a blowout every now and again.

Thanks Mandi, It really does help to know there are other people that get it. Boy can I see myself in those tearful husband rants actually had a bit of a chuckle reading.

You mentioned Skype so that just made me think i should share mine and my husbands way of keeping in touch since I have dial up internet and no way of getting high speed. Thought our method might help out a few people in similar situations with sky rocketing phone bills!
We use a website called Rebtel (rebtel.com) to make free calls to each other. You add the number into the site and it gives you a local or in my case gives me an ottawa number (still long distance but cheaper than calling the uk ) and that patches me through and then he answers and then hits * on his phone then calling me back to make the call free. He has my "local" UK number on is 10 free caller list with O2 and I have added the Unlimited Ontario calling with Bell. So for about $20 a month we keep in touch for several hours a day for no additional cost and when one of us can't call the other back there is a charge of about $0.01 a minute which is great for long distance I know they have great rates for other countries as well.

WEll not sure what the rules are for posting stuff like this on these forums hope i'm not crossing any lines....
