Waitingforwife, we have not heard anything back from Quebec yet. I guess CSQ could still take a couple more weeks? Hopefully sooner.

Filipina, No request for our passport. They just sent the AOR letter saying they got it, which also indicates how to notify them of a change of address or other changes, and a page of sticker labels with our file number on them.

And the letter was dated the 18th, but we received it in the mail last week sometime.

Great updates! :) Congrats, everyone. Here's to hoping I hear something this week, along with the rest of you still waiting for in-process/AOR updates.

AOR stands for Acknowledgment of Receipt and is just a letter saying they have received your file. Mine came from Buffalo, since that is where it is being processed.

Hi so i just have a question regarding this whole process. As i mentioned before i got sponsorship approval :)!
Now i wait a few months. What happens when the PR is approved, do i need to send a request for a passport or do they send one automatically when the pr is approved?

How long the rest of the process takes can vary greatly from case to case. Once you're approved, they will either send you an email or snail mail asking you to send your passport to them so that they can issue your visa. So, they'll ask for it automatically.

We are going to be in Canada already and waiting for the visa...so once they issue the visa what do i need to do to? Would i need to exit canada and re-enter?

Most people just do that, since it's generally quicker and not much hassle. You can literally drive to the nearest border and, assuming entry into the US is not an issue for you visa-wise, you can tell them exactly what you're doing and then turn around and come right back to the Canadian side of the border. You would then "land" there at the Canadian immigration office.

However, if you have valid temporary status and can prove it (passport stamp, visitor record, etc), then I've read that you can also schedule a landing appointment at the nearest inland CIC office and just land there. The drawback to doing this is that there can sometimes be a long wait time for these appointments, depending on how busy your CIC office is.

There have likely been others on this forum who have done this, so a forum search may turn up posts by others who have landed inland and give you a better idea of what to expect.

Just a head'up.
you can do this even if you don't have a US visa.
just tell the US official that u need to land to Canada, they will do some paperwork and re-direct you back to Canada.

My friend did this. his wife and kid didn't have US visa.

Couldn't i just drive to my nearest airport (fyi i'm in edmonton) and ask if i can land through the canadian immigration office at the airport?
