Well.....I had my heart-stopping moment today... PPR arrived by post! I was so shocked I had to go ask my neighbour to read it with me to make sure it was real and I wasn't dreaming! Can't wait to tell my husband. I'm wearing my roots canada shirt, we'll go surprise him at work when toddler 1 wakes!! My poor mum here in Australia is going to want to kill me. She knew we had applied but was in denial we would be leaving. Will be hard to break the news to her.

Here is the updated table, let me know if I need to change any of the details. Good luck everyone, it's magical, you never know what the day will bring. The frustration, patience, stress, anger, joy, worry, anxiety, heartache... all valid emotions because it IS incredibly stressful this waiting period so I feel for you who are still waiting like I was every day - checking that e-cas, email and post box like someone with OCD. The decision you want will also be here soon.

(I'm using the dates that are on the letters).

AOR - Acknowledgement of Receipt – the first official document that says the application for permanent residence status has been received.
PPR – Passport request – Immigration requests passport when they are ready to issue the visa.
DM - Decision made (waiting on letter to confirm)

Hi guys!! my hubby landed on March the 30th!! no problem with the landing process. and now I'm so happy that he's with me!!

Good luck to all who are waiting~~~~

Hi all,

Sorry for the blackout in communication. It's been SOOO busy since getting PPR.

In the last 3 weeks, I've:

1) Gotten PPR
2) Made a quick (15 hour one-way) drive to Buffalo to get visa
3) Put in notice for work, and am now unemployed
4) Packed up all of my things, and parted with some
5) Driven four days to Alberta
6) Started doing paperwork - (e.g. SIN, health care, etc)
7) Signed up with Telus and got a new number (also canceled AT&T at home)
8) Trying to get my car registered, etc.
9) Doing homework for school (online)
10) TRYING TO FIND ANOTHER JOB!!!
11) Enjoying married life!!

Please forgive me for being so absent as of late. As many of you will no doubt experience, once you get PR, your life will forever change, and you'll get VERY BUSY!!!

Congratulations to everyone getting PPR, and best wishes to those still waiting. You'll have it soon!!

Pharoh

It's good to hear from you, Pharoh! I've wondered how you have been doing. :) Thanks for the update, and congrats again on all your progress!

Hey Pharoh, I was wondering if you were enjoying your new life in Edmonton. Glad things are finally coming together for you and the long wait was worth it. I am sure you will get another job soon!

I'm still waiting to hear ANYTHING!! They must be studying my application real, real well. Maybe they are training a new person using my application? Just trying to think of any reason why it is taking soooo long. Fingers still crossed that it will be soon.

Congrats to all those who got PPR.

Don't worry, you are not the only one :) We are still waiting too (and I have no idea why).

To put it into perspective - my fiance's brother is sponsoring his wife from Pakistan. They sent off their application one year ago, and only got a letter about a month ago to send in some more information. His other brother sponsored his wife from the States (through Buffalo also), and it took them 8 months total to get PPR. (sometimes I think maybe our is taking so long because the officers think that my fiance and his brother have some sort of "sponsoring business", each sponsoring a spouse from a different country, even continent ;D - USA, Pakistan, Austria)

Hello Guys,

Sorry for late update. Been busy lately.

So far....

After receiving PPR, Hubby flew to Buffalo to get the visa.
He landed last March 19th.
Applied for SIN, Health Care Etc.
Received Sin a week later.

Now...

Waiting for PR Card
Looking for a job for him...

Goodluck to all who are still waiting!!!!

The date you must land by will normally be one year from the date of your medical.

Hi guys,
Do you know how long I could expect to wait for my passport to be returned after I sent it in after receiving my PPR? Its the London office.
I sent it in just over 4 weeks ago.

Thank You Baloo

Congrats on the PPR, nmrajan! :) Very excited for you!

Oh Canadayogini, I am soooo pleased for you. I was really rooting for you to get your PPR because of your circumstances with the new baby bump! I would have hated to see you have to give up on your dream and start the whole process again in a few years. I am so happy for you. Any idea when you are going yet? Yes, it is hard on family that you are leaving behind but I am sure deep down they want you to be happy. I bet your husband was over the moon when you told him. Excellent news and started my day off right!! ;D

Thanks Jen, hang in there. Sounds like you are getting messed about. We'll be going in about 9 weeks from now, just in the nick of time with all that needs to be done before and on arrival. I'll find out Monday from the next scan if we'll be bringing a new little boy or girl into the country with us!
