Thread for November 2010 applications

Hi everyone,

My eCas came back to life! ;D

It says "We received ****** application for permanent residence on December 6, 2010."

No AOR Letter or In Process yet, but at least now we know our application didn't get lost in the mail and is safe and sound in the Rome Visa Office. Whew!

Ever since we received our DM letter, we didn't hear anything! We were going crazy! Finally some good news!

Congratulations on the AOR CanuckyInItaly! I'm sure you'll get the physical letter soon.

How long does Rome take to process, on average?

Thank you Pharoh! We feel relieved...

On the CIC page they say it takes 13 months. (Yaiks!)
Unfortunately I can't compare my time line with anyone on this forum. It seems my husband is the only one going through Rome. Sigh!

A friend went through the same process, but it was 2005/06.
They sent their application late November, got their AOR by the end of January and their visa was issued mid April 06.

I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed!

Slowly and frustrating...but hanging in there. Our mistake for looking for houses and finding the perfect one and not being able to go for it!! Grrr... oh well.

We're trying our best not to think about Canada. We aren't even looking at pictures of Canadian landscapes.
I know, it's kind of extreme but unfortunately I have to deal with Italian superstition! :-X

I know it is very close since most of you filed, but has anyone been very lucky to get his/her visa issued? Anyone landed yet?

I've read posts and check people's statues, and some people are very lucky to get their visa issued within 3 months.

pharoh to be honest with u thre's no place worse than the nairobi visa office
and there's no chance of getting trv or visitor visa
i heard nairobi is working the application of more than 17 countries
i mean the likes of UGANDA, RWANDA, BURUNDI, DR CONGO ,DJIBOUTI, ETHOPIA, SOMALIA ,TANZANIA,KENYA,MURITIES,AND MANY MORE
so u can take a look and say that's awful
because many of this country are stable and there's no need thier applications to be processed somewhere else.
by the way hope is the only thing we have so let's not lose that hope.

We are trying to stall things with the house right now. Thankfully (for us) Nova Scotia has had a load of snow and they can't even get up the long driveway at the moment for my parents to have a look at it. (The house is empty)So that has already delayed things there for a week. Will just have to see how it goes. We might get lucky but it is a bit nerve wracking. What is meant to be will be. If we lose it, maybe it just means something better is around the corner. What part of Canada are you going to again?

I'll be landing in Vancouver, BC.

Ah, I know Gatineau - been there several times. There's a park there that is great for x-country skiing in the winter. It's also really cool to be able to ice skate on the canal in Ottawa.

Is that where you're from, Luckiest Guy? Or is this a new place you are moving to?

I wasn't born there. I moved there when I was 17 and lived there for 10 yrs before coming to China. I'll go back there because yes it's a beautiful and peaceful place (especially in the fall) and my parents are still there and moving my wife from China to Canada I think being around my family will make the transition easier. My brother and nephew are also there.

Short story: We are going to land in Vancouver and then... we'll see what comes along.
While job hunting, we are going to stay in Whistler, BC at a friend's house.

I've been away from Canada for soooo long I really don't know what to expect.
We just have a feeling it's the right thing to do.

About the house you found, hold on to your positive thinking! That's the best thing you could possibly do.
If it's meant to be, will be! So true!

Sorry, yes...just a short memory. I just went through my messages and found it again. You are very lucky...rent free for a year and Whistler is gorgous! It will be a real adjustment for your husband but I am sure you will both be absolutely fine.
I keep going on Google Streetview and cruising around the towns that we will be local to so I know where things are when I need them. I already know where 2 home hardward shops are and I am quite sure we will be visiting them frequently to start with! lol Just want to get going now!!
