Hi jma,

If Nairobi take 22 months, why didn't you do Inland? The wait is just as long, but you'd be able to live in Canada, and work after the first 9 months.

Most likely hubby wasn't able to get to Canada on visitor visa.

Ahh crap, that's right. Only some countries are visa-exempt. That really sucks. I'm so sorry jma. :(

Any possibility of your partner coming out to Nairobi for a while, and you supporting them?

On top of that there isn't an option to appeal which would make it even more reason to apply outland

That's complete bull.... I've never understood that policy.

It's like, you choose to be with your spouse while CIC intentionally drags out your application process by triple or more of what it takes for Outland to process... THEN, if they decide they don't like you, they say "well, since you decided to be with your spouse, we're going to punish you by telling you to piss off, and be out of the country within 30 days, or face deportation. If you believe this to be a mistake, we don't care, and will gladly have you deported."

By refusing someone the right to appeal... by refusing to acknowledge someone's voice... to dismiss any possibility of mistake by CIC, the IO's, etc... that's so low.... so terribly, terribly low. It fills me with anger when I think about it. If us outlanders can appeal, then why the hell can't inlanders do the same?

There are a lot of things that don't make sense with this whole process. Why should one country have to wait 22 months while others are only 2 or 3. It is still Canadian visa offices. And yes, inlanders should be able to appeal if they needed to. No sense at all!

One thing you have to consider is that while people blame CIC for back ground checks, some of it has to do with the amount of corruption within the given country where they are trying to administer the back ground check and the speed in which they provide the requested information.

If you go through the site, there are embassies that only receive mail once a week due to their geographic location too.

Part of the long process is the number of applicants from each country. Shorter timelines for countries in which have less applicants could be part of what we are seeing.

On a bit of an unrelated note, once all this is finished, which province is everyone going to be living?

Does anyone have wishes they need granted? Yesterday I posted asking for my wife's Quebec approval and 2 hrs later it's sitting in my mailbox downstairs.

Today we sent it out to Beijing with her passport so hopefully they have everything they need and it's just waiting the 6 months. Of course I did have to first call Quebec (from China!!!! Not clear and their English sucks) to fix a mistake I made on my wife's date of birth

We'll be moving to Gatineau, Quebec. Just outside Ottawa

I'll be landing in Vancouver, BC.

Ah, I know Gatineau - been there several times. There's a park there that is great for x-country skiing in the winter. It's also really cool to be able to ice skate on the canal in Ottawa.

Is that where you're from, Luckiest Guy? Or is this a new place you are moving to?
