Hi Jen,

That makes more sense now. Thanks for clarifying!!

I'm mailing the IMM 5046 today, next-day, to my spouse. She went to pick up our marriage license (just married two weeks ago), and they haven't finished processing it. I guess the pastor mailed it to them later than he said he would, so now we're basically waiting on them. :(

In the meantime, we're going over the application again and again, trying to find errors. We've gone through it twice, and so far, all looks good...

I'm paranoid that Mississauga will mix something up or lose something, and documents won't get to Buffalo. I should probably not worry, right?

I think we all get paranoid! So scared of missing something or making a mistake. I went through our application countless times...and each time would find a minor tiny error which I would fix and go through it again. I refused to send it until I could check it without finding any errors. Still worried that there might be something wrong or they won't be happy with documents we have sent. I too wonder how the folks at Mississauga can keep all those papers straight but that is completely out of our control so I guess we just have to try to stop worrying. It was such a huge relief to finally get it sent off as it was weighing heavy on my mind for months! Last weekend I kind of felt lost without the immigration paperwork to work on. I suddenly had free time!

Good luck in getting your marriage license (Congratulations!) You will get it all done soon.

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some reassurance that everything will be fine. I like to think we have a straightforward case, one which shouldn't require an interview, and hopefully, be processed as quickly as all of you.

My synopsis is as follows:

  • I met my spouse one year ago, while both of us were on random vacation in Ireland. We met entirely by chance.
  • We dated for 8 months, became engaged, and married 4 months after that.
  • I've visited her in Canada 8 times, she's visited me in Chicago for 3. The flights for her are very expensive, so I do most of the visiting.
  • We've documented the date/times/locations where we've met, and created tables of everyone on both sides of the family, including friends, whom we've had contact with, and when. I have none of the original boarding passes. I DO have all the flight receipts, however. We made photocopies of our passports, showing the stamps we've received coming and going.
  • We had well over 100 people in attendance at the wedding and reception, and included a few pictures copied into a Word document and printed out. We've included our marriage license, our marriage program (for the ceremony), bills from the reception hall, etc.
  • We've received 10 handwritten letters of support for us and our relationship, mostly from our friends (families are a bit more biased, obviously, so I figured friends would be more neutral.)
  • Our additional evidence includes flight receipts, phone bill logs, pictures from places we've gone/been, letters of support, bank information for our joint account, our premarital counseling summary, pictures of things we've bought for each other (e.g. rings, a laptop I bought for her to Skype with, etc), cards we've mailed each other, letters we've written each other, her Facebook wall for the last year (printed on 70 pages!) where she has constantly talked about our relationship in front of her 100+ Facebook friends, etc. We have no chat logs from conversations, as we mostly Skype.

What do you guys think? Are we supplying enough evidence to make it an easy decision for the IO?

Thanks!

Hi Pharoh

Well I am no expert and don't know if it is enough but it looks good to me. I was hoping that someone that has received their immigration approval might answer you. Thought I would bump up the post so hopefully more people will read.

Good luck

Well Pharoh, it sounds really thorough to me, thanks for taking the time to post those details, I hope someone who has been through the process can reply with something encouraging for you.

In my experience with obtaining a visa for australia for my (Canadian) husband, because we also had a brief relationship together before marriage, the oz immigration seemed to value most the marriage certificate as confirmation of our relationship. In fact, anything documentary, bank statements, passport stamps, tickets etc. all sound favourable. Good luck, I really hope it goes smoothly for you both.

Hello everyone on the november thread.
I will be sending my husband application for outland processing very soon. His visa office is Abidjan.
So I thought I will join even before it's sent to Mississauga.
We have been working on the application for the last 2 months and each time there is something to add.
I have a few questions if I may ask regarding the application. In the region specific document it asks for a list of the places he has visited outside of his country as well as the list for his wife. Since I'm already in Canada and not part of the application for residency does he have to list mine also or is it just his?
Another question regarding phone records, I have my plan through Fido and each time I receive my bills all the phone calls that I receive for incoming calls just says incoming so it does not show my husband's number even though he calls me everyday and we text alot but I have no way of proving that. I called Fido to inquire about it and they said that for privacy reason they cannot list the incoming numbers. will it be a problem?

Sorry to ask all these questions. I wish us all patience and courage while we wait for this process to be over.

Hi all,

Thanks for the support and best wishes. I wish you all the same, and look forward to waiting this out with all of you.

On a side note, the IMM 5046 that I mailed to my spouse next-day? It appears FedEx has lost the envelope, and on top of that, today's a holiday in Canada, so no postal service.

We're now shooting for early next week to get the application out. :-X

I'll let you all know once Mississauga has it.

I keep looking at the threads from previous months and seeing all the people progressing through the process and getting their permanent residence approvals. I can't wait until our group starts hearing something.

Is there any others applying in November that we can add to our list?

Pharoh, hope FedEx found your form. I thought they were normally pretty reliable! Hope all gets sorted for you soon and you can get your app sent in.

Hey Jen,

It looks like it's out for delivery today. There must have been some crazy glitch. It was supposed to be overnight to Canada. This is what the tracking says:

Shipment Picked Up, November 10, 2010, 7:28 pm, CHICAGO, UNITED STATES
Departing Origin, November 10, 2010, 9:24 pm, CHICAGO, UNITED STATES
Transferred Through, November 10, 2010, 10:43 pm, MEMPHIS, UNITED STATES
Departing Origin, November 10, 2010, 10:45 pm, CHICAGO, UNITED STATES
Transferred Through, November 10, 2010, 10:57 pm, CHICAGO, UNITED STATES

Transferred Through, November 11, 2010, 4:42 am, MEMPHIS, UNITED STATES
Transferred Through, November 11, 2010, 7:04 am, EDMONTON, CANADA

Sooo... it left Chicago. It went to Memphis. It went back to Chicago. Then back to Memphis. THEN left for Canada.

I'll be calling for a refund on shipping.

Anyways, if it gets delivered today, we're shipping the application to Mississauga this afternoon, for hopefully Monday delivery. We'll keep you updated.

Isn't it supposed to be going to Mississauga? What is it doing in Edmonton on the other side of the country? Mine went from the UK to Memphis to Mississauga. It was a bit later than I expected it to be...should have been noon but was about 2pm. I could fight for a refund but couldn't be bothered to go through the hassle. I was just happy it made it there!

My wife lives in Edmonton. I'm sending her the IMM 5046 form that we forgot. She's mailing our application from Edmonton, to Mississauga. She's just waiting for my IMM 5046 form to show up in the mail, so she can throw it in, and send it off.

Sorry Pharoh, I realised after I sent the last message that it was probably going to your spouse. The Chicago - Memphis - Chicago was probably a computer glitch looking at the times. I bet you will be happy once the form is in her hands!

I grew up in Edmonton so I know it well!

mijo - hope to add you to the list, keep us informed of how the application is going
dishy - good for you to take the pressure off. at one time I planned to get it all done in 2 weeks and after feeling very stressed I realised that wasn't realistic. sometimes we've just got to reduce our expectations of ourselves and grant some breathing room, things tend to flow better that way. Let us know as your application progresses.
