Thank you Jen85! :)

I noticed both our applications were received on the same day!

Are you currently living in UK?

Yes, we are both living in England at the moment. I used to live in Alberta and moved to UK 7 years ago to be with partner but now we want to move to Nova Scotia to be closer to my parents so I am sponsoring him.

I'm sponsoring my husband from Italy. I used to live in Ontario, but I left along with my parents many years ago.
I spent most of my youth in Italy. Now we want to move to the BC area.
I'm afraid they might refuse me as sponsor because I've been residing out of Canada for so many years and it's kind of hard proving my true intention to move back if and when my hubby gets his visa.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

(Hello Coldgirl. Good luck to you too!)

I found that hard too...proving that I do intend on moving back to Canada. Hope they are okay with what I did send. Guess we will find that out in approximately a month looking at other peoples timelines.

Hi all, hope I captured everyone in the list below, please let me know if not, didn't mean to miss you intentionally!

It's great watching our list build.

Anyone else finding it hard to focus on much else? It's like I'm holding my breath just waiting for news and I've got to remind myself that life is still continuing right here, right now, no matter what happens.

Hey all,

The app is being mailed out tomorrow morning, priority overnight with signature, to the courier address.

I'm slightly worried. We didn't fill out the IMM 5406 Additional Family Information form. We're going to do that now, one for my family, and one for hers. Did everyone else do this too? I'm worried what else we may have missed in the process. We've gone through the forms a dozen or so times...

The main applicant and dependants (I think over 18 and not already Canadian) have to fill in this form. As sponsor, I did not have to fill in the additional family information form but I was included as common law on my partners form.

Go through each form on the document check list. Even forms that may not apply to you, print off and write not applicable on the top. That is what I read somewhere in here that I should do.

Hope that helps.

Hi Jen,

Thanks for the information. I'll make sure the form is filled out with information on members of my family, and she won't fill it out (as she's a Canadian Citizen).

I'm curious, is anyone here planning on waiting out some or all of the application process with their spouse?

You must answer all questions. If any sections do not apply to you, please answer “Not Applicable.”
It is very important that you list on this form any other children (even if they are already permanent residents of Canada or Canadian citizens) that you, your spouse or common-law partner or your dependent children might have who are not included in your Application for Permanent Residence. This includes married children, adopted children, stepchildren and any of your children who have been adopted by others, or who are in the custody of an ex-spouse or ex-common-law partner.

Sorry Pharoh, I answered that question while I was at work and not able to look at the actual guide. I copied and pasted above. So you and all family members over 18, whether Canadian or not need to fill this in. I read it that I didn't need to fill this in as it was part of the immigrants package but now I am questioning (and panicking) whether I should have. We only had my partner, the principal applicant and his dependent son over 18 fill this form in. Have to do some more research now and see if I missed something! Ahhhgggg

Okay, each family member that is included in the application, so children that are considered dependents over 18, whether accompanying to Canada or not have to fill in this form just as they have to get medicals, police checks etc. But only the applicants need to fill it in, not the sponsor.
Phew...why do they have to have such bad wording on these forms. It is no wonder so many people get confused!!
I got this information by trolling through loads of other posts of advice on here. Hope it is right now!

My spouse and I were just together. She flew home yesterday, to get everything milled in. We missed the IMM 5406, and of course, I have to sign it. Now I have to fill it out and sign it, and next-day it to her (for $30) so she can get the application out this week. What a great way to start a Monday, eh?

I know it's frustrating isn't it, I wish it was somehow a bit more clear all the paperwork required for sponsor & applicant. I almost missed the additional family form too. Don't worry Pharoh, try not to let it spoil your week. I panic too and then remind myself, everything will happen at the right time, just the way it is supposed to.

This is confusing as hell. The instructions say for IMM 5046 that:

"You and each of your family members 18 years of age or over, whether accompanying you to Canada or not, must complete their own copy of this form."

THEIR OWN COPY? So I need to print out a copy of this form for each person in my family, and have them write in all the same info, and include a copy from each family member?

...or do I just write in all their names/relation/addresses on one form, and send it in?

Pharoh, who is actually on your application. The prinicipal applicant has to fill this form in. Do you have any dependents over 18 on your application form? They need to fill it out too.

The person you are sponsoring and any family members included in the application must fill out the immigration forms.

So if it is just you applying to immigrate, only you need to fill it in. But you have to make sure you include all your family members on that form. Does that help? Just the same as the Schedule 1 Background Declaration.

I know it is confusing and frustrating. I have a few extra grey hairs to show for it!! lol
