you sure like debating with me dont u doctor. The banks and alot of other places in ontario were closed for holidays dec 24-28 opened for 3 days 29-31 and then closed jan 1-3. So i'm pretty sure a government building will have all these off too as it's holiday entitlement.

Actually, I like truth, rather than off-the-cuff incorrect comments. It seems you had a couple that needed correction today. :)

The "official" holidays would have been Dec 27-28 (in lieu of the 25 & 26 which both fell on a weekend) and Jan 3 (in lieu of Jan 1, also on a weekend.) Government offices aren't like banks -- they do have minimum (and, we all know "minimum" is what it means when it comes to gov't) service levels to maintain.

For instance, I know that BC Assessment (crown corporation responsible for real estate valuations for taxation purposes in BC) is open those few days... and I really can't imagine too many members of the public needing to inquire about their property value in that timeframe -- everybody has more important things to do.

Occasionally, the government offices will close early on a day like Dec 24, but not usually more than an hour or two (considering quitting time is usually 4 or 4:30 already).

Of worthy note to those outside Canada: Boxing Day (Dec 26) is *not* an official holiday. It is not federally, nor provincially (in BC) noted as a Statutory Holiday and is typically only a paid day off if you're part of a union (e.g. Government Employees) and most of the private sector expects their employees to be at work that day.

I can't believe you actually wrote all that...

This poor woman just wants her sponsorship approval and wanted to know why some people got there's at certain times. I was providing ideas there is no right or wrong answer.

Being at the management level in the private sector has me often working to convince born-and-bred Canadians that 25 paid statutory holidays (in addition to vacation time) isn't their God-given right. Truthfully, we have about 10 (depends on province) per year. The international perspective is similar -- when I spent time in the US, people were always asking about the "huge" number of national holidays we get.

I felt it was appropriate to correct that in the minds of people that are on their way to Canada, before they upset an employer here... :)

And you'll note, I answered that thoroughly and more appropriately than your attempts to earlier as well. :D Just sayin'...

Agreed - the application process is stressful enough as it is. I understand the need to vent and the frustration involved. Everyone disagrees from time to time, but as Kaycee1 said we're all just trying to help one another and a huge amount of the process - especially when it comes to time frames is educated guess work.

Let's hope this week finishes off with some good news for those still waiting - and it'll be interesting to see if we start seeing some AORs for the guys who's sponsership was approved in early Feb - it seems to take about 10 days from sponsership approval to AOR receipt (judging from the Dec Thread) - but as i said earlier - purly educated guesswork. :)

I wish it was more consistent - either send everyone an email, or no one! Otherwise the rest of us get worried about it, I've been waiting for an email too, but hopefully it'll just be coming in the mail in the next day or two.

Oh I know Kaycee1...and you know what? I even called them and asked why I didn't receive an email...The agent claimed that they NEVER send emails to those applying for spousal sponsorship outside Canada, and he seemed pretty sure about it. Hmmm, I wonder how accurate that is, coz I never heard this before. Also, my E-cas was not working, so I asked CPC-M about that, and they claimed that only applicants from inside Canada get to view thier E-cas, but the applicants who apply through the Buffalo office have a totally different system for checking the status of thier application. I feel lost.... ???
