I have not been on social assistant..no bankruptcy...nothing of the sort...
Im not working...so i didn't provide any proof of income...but there was a question that asked for net personal income, and i remember putting a number there, because the only income i do have is what my husband sends me through western union...So i provided just a few of those slips but not all to show that there was western union money sent to me by my spouse.
I hope i did this right.

I have called the call centre and asked about the processing of apps and why i haven't received any emails yet...I was told that the processing of apps sent on Jan. 18 will start in the next 2 weeks or so...I was like well ummm yeh ok.
I guess i have to wait and see.

I'm sure it will be long before two weeks, I'm expecting something this week too I hope, based on the others that got theirs last week. I guess we just have to be patient :( :'(

It looks like you may have been delayed as you are not a routine case or you could well be rejected on the terms that you are unemployed and receive money FROM your husband. The whole point of being a sponsor is that for 3 years your obligations are to provide lodging, care and support for the person you want to sponsor. If you are unemployed and receiving money from your husband you may not be elligible.
Option C is not just about taxes i dont think, it also shows any kind of income you have received in that tax year. You should have provided an up to date one which may show nothing but that's what they will have wanted to see. Everything they ask for is for the past year. 2006 tax year was almost 5 years ago, they won't care about that. It's only a 5 minute phonecall to request an option c and you get it a few days later.
Hopefully your just delayed a little bit because its not a standard case. Best of luck x

Kaycee1 I hope so....Im looking at this and thinking there's hope for me lol.

There is 5 days difference here, even though both have applied on the same day. :D

shandymoo I have read that sponsoring a spouse you don't need to be working. I have even confirmed this with CIC.
I only know that my spouse can't go on social assistance or anything of the sort for 3 years.
He can just start work here in Canada as soon as he is accepted.
Am i missing something? ::)

Well, there's nothing like that in my case and I still haven't been approved yet either! I'm a self employed physician, and sent in everything that was requested, including the Option C printout. I double and triple checked everything before we sent it, and I'm 99.9% sure we didn't miss anything (although we could have!!)

I'm a bit reassured that no one else has heard anything yet though, if everyone else had except me I'd be more worried!! I'm sure we'll all hear soon ;)

In observation of apps filed lately, it seems to be taking right around a whole month for processing.

We sent our app Jan 3, a decision was made Feb 3 (and e-CAS was available showing that on Feb 6, letter received Feb 9th).

If you sent the app in on Jan 18, don't start to fret until you haven't heard anything by the end of February.

That's blatantly incorrect. As a spousal application, they don't evaluate income -- but they do want to see that you're a good "credit risk". If you are surviving with no income (and without gov't assistance), they don't care. I know of several people who showed almost no income (WELL below the poverty line) and were still approved promptly.

Your obligation is not to provide the basic needs of the applicant -- your obligation is to ensure the government isn't responsible for paying for these needs. The permanent resident is required (per the sponsorship agreement) to try to provide for themselves as much as possible.

The Option C is supposedly a printout not too different from the Notice of Assessment. It's a summary of income, taxes paid and obligations due. It would include any note of unresolved bankruptcy.

The wire transfers she's received from her husband are unlikely to be reported as income.

You're right that it's an easy to request thing. However, your assumption is based on two things: 1. that the individual requesting it is up-to-date with their tax filing and 2. that CRA is caught up with said filings.

For the record, since she's filed 2006 taxes, she is only 3 years behind -- not "almost 5". The 2010 filing deadline isn't until the end of April 2011, and employers aren't required to have documents to their employees until the end of February 2011.

Don't fret about the lack of an Option C. My sponsorship (along with several others in this forum) was approved with nothing more than a good explanation of why it wasn't included -- meeting the checklist requirement. I suspect if it weren't a spousal app and you had to prove a certain earnings level, you would need the Option C for sure...

Oh thank you so much doctorkb. Im glad you understood me about the option C...I have called and its the only one they can provide me with...i think thats what shandymoo misunderstood.
But really you reassured me...I shouldn't be freaking out just yet lol.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry yet - like I said, my application is quite straight forward and I haven't heard anything yet either! I'm sure we'll hear soon.

oh well then i was just assuming i don't actually know anything everything i said was an uneducated guess!

There was a 5 day difference because jan 4th was the first official back to work day after christmas and new years. They will have had a big back log whcih will have taken them a week to get through. Lots would have been received on jan 4th because the office and canada post would have been closed 6 days over christmas and new year.

I'm not sure about CIC, but CanadaPost was CERTAINLY moving mail (even delivering it) on Dec 29, 30, 31. I suspect many CIC staff had those days booked off, but I doubt there would have been a full office closure.

Sometimes there's not accounting for it. See this record:

The time from application to PPR was 17 days.

you sure like debating with me dont u doctor. The banks and alot of other places in ontario were closed for holidays dec 24-28 opened for 3 days 29-31 and then closed jan 1-3. So i'm pretty sure a government building will have all these off too as it's holiday entitlement. The mail may have well been delivered during holidays but there would have been no one to sort it until they offices opened again.

He orginally sent his app in in september i think and was sent back as something was missing and he re applied so as he already had a case number and IO assigned to his file and everything that is why he was approved alot faster.

Wow he's one lucky fella!
But certainly there's no accounting for it...I guess everyones app is processed differently.
Cheers!
