Hi Dralon,

Congrats on getting the CSQ!
How long did it take Quebec (MICC) to charge your credit card after they received your paperwork? They received mine 10 days ago but my credit card is still not charged :P

let see they received april 30th, charged may 6 and got accepted may 12 be patient it will be soon it is summer and some people are heading to vacations so the process might be a few days more

I just received an odd request from Buffalo for a "Declaration of Common Law Union" - however, all the guides indicate that this only relates to where the co-sponsor is a common law spouse of the sponsor - not where the person being sponsored is the common law spouse of the sponsor. Am I missing something? Did others submit this form?

Honest i have not heard of it?I didnt know there was such a thing do you think they have it mixed up somehow??

See this is the tricky part about common law applications- although this form is in fact intended for common law co-sponsors, CIC does at times request this as additional proof of a common law relationship application. I submitted this with my original application- just to be on the safe side- as I had heard of CIC requesting it on previous applications. I recommend everyone send it in with their original application, just to be on the safe side and avoid delays. It's easy enough to complete....

I have an update! Just checked E-CAS and saw that a decison has been made with our PR application! It says:
Medical results have been received. A decision has been made on X's application. The office will contact X concerning this decision.
I hope that's a good thing.. For now, we'll just wait for CIC-Manila to contact us.

Goodluck to everyone! :)

For your information Buffalo started our case i got that from the tracker today :D

"We started processing <my wife> application on May 26, 2010"

It would be nice to have update from the people that were applying from Quebec

BC Ready - you may have solved your problem since you posted, but if not:

Declaration of Common Law Union is a funny little thing when you apply as common law. Aa you say, according to CIC instructions this is a form required for the sponsor who has co-signer who is a common law partner. However it is known as something you don't lose by including in your application package as a proof of your relationship that has some legal weight. And they do quite often request to provide it as additional document when it wasn't included in the original application (in the case of common law partnership).
I believe there is a few threads here and there about this in the past.

Anyhow, learning that's the case, we did this form (IMM 5409) and got it notarized and included in our application. They still asked us to send one!! We duely emailed and informed them that is is already in the application they have there, but attached them a scanned copy anyhow as it could well be missing on their end. Hopefully they won't come back to us to say they want a bland new one....

Actually I notice your timeline is very close to mine - we filed the application on the same time, being processed at Buffalo, and I also received the request for the declaration blah blah virtually at the same time. Looking at your flag I wonder if you are a UK national in Canada who chose Buffalo instead of London?

anyone else from February got news lately?

i am still "fighting" with Micc after sending them a letter that they made a mistake in my name they sent me papers again with a mistake... bunch of incompetent people
