Yay! Hopefully we will see a lot more of this very soon! ;D

we received a letter from port of spain visa office requesting my sons original birth certificate they also wanted proof that I (the sponsor) has returned to Canada or intends to return, I am currently in the USA with my spouse but maintain a residence in Toronto dont have a lease tho but have bank accounts etc in Canada filed Taxes this year, a bit late had sent an option c print out to mississauga and the original birth certificate with the application. I am the VP of Operations of a car rental company based in the USA and Barbados so I travel quite a bit between Canada the USA and Barbados we are planning to move some Administrative functions to Canada.

Should a send a copy of the bank statements for the past 6 months along with copies of my 2010 tax return

I am a Canadian citizen but have permanent resident status in the USA

Woo Hoo!! Not the update we wanted, but when I seen a letter from Immigration I started shaking. SHAAAKIIIING! I Thought...PPR!!!! But no....it wasn't PPR....

My hubby got his Visitors Record Extension...get this...UNTIL MAY 2013!!!! HOLY CRAAAP! Now we have no worries about him having to leave Canada during the processing of our Application :D He can stay and care for the babies and we don't have to worry about him having to leave and getting alternative child-care :D

WOOOO HOOO!!!

Is this unusual? A VR extension for TWO YEARS? I've never heard of it personally....I see people get over the moon for having a 1 year extension! CRAZY! We only requested a 6 month extension too! I said, we only wanted enough time to wait out PR processing together. heh...2 years. I am soooo happy :)

Hi Trish1982,

CONGRATS on the Visitors Record Extension, that's very exciting news for you guys.

My hubby and I have been looking at applying for the VRE. We have been driving down to the Montana Border every 6 months to renew the visitor visa, which is a hassle.

How long did it take for them to approve the VRE? Was there any special steps that you had to take since you had a pending PR Application? Thanks for the advice!

hehe Congrats, Trish! I also applied for a Visitors Extension while I was waiting with my husband. Ours was approved for 1 year. :) It's excellent news, and one less thing to worry about.

Good luck this week, guys! I'm hoping Buffalo wakes up and realizes they're running waayyy behind.

When we applied, I sent our marriage certificate, our case # from Mississauga, copies of sponsorship approval a print off of E-cas and notified them that we had a pending PR application. Gave them as much info and proof that I would be able to finance all my husbands needs while in Canada including a flight home were he to get denied. I sent a letter from my employer outlining my current wages and benefits, support letter from my parents stating they would step in to cover his finances if I were to become unable. Copies of my RRSP and bank statements. We sent birth certificates of our children and told them that he had no interest in working or going to school while visiting but only to stay home and care for our children while waiting for PR processing to be finalized. Told them we felt we had a strong case, as we've been together for 7 years, have 2 children and sent TONS of evidence of our relationship with our PR app. We requested a 6 month visa, and I said clearly that we're aware of the seriousness of overstaying a VR and that we have no intention to do anything that would jeopardize our PR application. (Hubby had previously overstayed a few VR's i mentioned this as well, and mentioned our ignorance to the rules/laws/regulations of immigration..let them know we have since studied as much as we could so we know not to step over the line...lol)

We applied in March and got the extension this morning....it was pretty fast!

Any new news for any of our December group? this thread have been quiet for a few days action VO;s please

nope...no new news to report here for me :( LA seems to be just as slow as buffalo is.....blah

No news from us either :-(

Nothing here either. It's beyond ridiculous now.

Nothing to report here either, Thinking I'll make the hubby email them if we dont hear anything by friday. Then again hopefully this means they're working on files :)

Well nothing new here as well
Emailed NYC twice with no success
This upgrade of computer systems is for all VOs in the US
I would not be surprised to hear that many cases simply got frozen until everything
Is back up. Plain bad luck....

Unfortunately, I have to return to Western NY this weekend for various reasons... Shall I poke Buffalo with a stick on my way through? ::)

I was really hoping to have all this done by now, so I could just land in early June (based on other people's timelines... Silly of me to compare, I know.) No dice. I'm just tired of being worried every time I cross the border now.

Yes....Please! Poke Buffalo on the way through. This is crazy! I thought I'd be moved by now :'(

I wish there was a way to find out what is going on.
