Hi guys. I hope all of u are in good health. I just came here to tell that I got my visa on 13th. And I'll be landing in Vancouver on 08th june God Willing.

My best wishes for ppl who are still waiting. Soon u guys will also have the visa inur hands. Hang in there. My Ecas is still showing in process, so don't just rely on ecas. And also don't hesitate to contact ur VO, if required. Worst case will be that VO won't reply back. Some embassies do reply back. Sydney visa office is really good in replying back quickly.

OK guys. All the best.
Many congrats and best wishes to you.

I'm just wondering how many days, hours and min will have passed shown as logged in until my PPR :-X

Something that is puzzling me is what should we think when eCas is showing 'Application Received' for months with no IN PROCESS.
Shall we actually fear they have not even started to look at those files or is it that they have started processing but forgot to update eCas.
Initially i thought it was just due to the new system but i can see some of the more recent applications to Buffalo (January/February) going to IN PROCESS while many of our December Buffalo (or satellite) are still in APPLICATION RECEIVED.
Hey Romain,

Did you see any of the Jan/Feb people getting In Process?? Because I think so far all of them just have Application Received. I am hoping December should have all of them "In Process" very soon...

Congratulations on your landing Quakingaspen! I've read your post in Buffalo thread about landing process and happy it all went well and quite fast for you. I have a question, what do you think if someone not US citizen will go to land the same way? I don't know how it will work for me? Can I say to US officer that I just want to land to Canada? I remember when the last time I traveled to US by car, I had to wait in big line about 30min and then they asked questions, fill out papers and it took more that an hour to enter :(.
I don't need visa to US but there is some yellow or pink sheet (valid for 1month) they issue when entering. Don't really want to enter US so hope to avoid line ups and questions :)

Thanks, Maja! :) It feels great to have that step behind me. Now to find a job!

I'm not sure there's any way for you to avoid a line up there. You can go and tell them you're just interested in reentering Canada (flagpoling), but they may have you come inside to be officially "rejected". This will not cause you any trouble in the future.

Here's a thread on the topic that might be helpful.

Very helpful, thank you. As I understand you didn't land at Niagara falls? Lansdowne bridge? Where is it?

Hm. I was just reading through a link posted in the Buffalo forum, and here are some parts that I thought were interesting regarding the Buffalo office. They are from Burke Thornton, the immigration program manager in Buffalo. (The full article can be found here. http://www.parl.gc.ca/HousePublications/Publication.aspx?DocId=5022762&Language=E&Mode=1&Parl=40&Ses=3)

  • We are an office of 51 people, including Canada-based officers and local staff. Approximately half our staff are Canadian citizens and residents.
  • In 2010, the U.S. delivery network received the highest volume of permanent resident applications, approximately 20,400, and issued the most visas, approximately 38,500, out of all visa offices and regional program centres across the world.
  • Buffalo keeps approximately 50% of the applications and sends the other 50% to the other four U.S. offices for processing.
  • And we are able to finalize 50% of our spousal cases in less than six months, once they're received.
  • from the Buffalo office alone, about 16,000 permanent resident visa [applicants are currently residing temporarily in Canada]
  • On the permanent resident side we interview probably between 5% to 10% of our applicants, so unless we have a good reason to interview them, we will conduct the process entirely through correspondence.
  • We have six Canada-based and 45 locally engaged staff.
  • Approximately 50% of our immigrant applications are distributed to our four partner offices in New York, Detroit, Seattle, and Los Angeles. They are smaller offices than Buffalo's, but they're full-service offices. It's a just-in-time process, so we want to ensure that a person's application is processed by the partner offices at the same time, if you like, as those of other people who applied around the same time. In other words, we don't want someone's application to be sitting on a shelf in New York City for four months because they can't get to it.

Well the interesting thing would be to know if those who are only Application Received are actually in Process and we are only looking at a logistic issue (may be i am dreaming here and being naive...)

From the Buffalo VO, or elsewhere? I would imagine the Outland Buffalo thread would be on fire right now if they finally started moving again... Still looks (mostly) dead to me... ???

Who are processing through buffalo? there may be a glitch in ecas cuz as far as i'm aware they aren't allowed to jump ahead and people here are only just starting to move to in process (very very slowly) either that or the VOs aren't updating ecas...which doesn't bother me as long as they are actually working on my file :) now if they start getting IAs before us....then i'll be concerned

side note, Finally told the hubby to email buffalo (been putting it off in hopes of hearing something) so hopefully we will get some answers :) (Will share anything I learn :) )

Well not being in process on ecas could be a glitch. Now the fact that some people who filed after you are already getting ppr is a different story. They may have a more simple case.

Once basic medical, police certificates etc have been verified it is up to how long whatever background check is happening will take.... Delays happen if the vo has to communicate with even one external office that could be slow to respond ...
I would assume that an American who has not lived anywhere else has a greater chance to be processed much faster than than anyone who has lived in 2-4 countries for which cic does not have a speedy way to get information from....
