Thanks for your reply missinghim...
He has crossed the border earlier, and he always says friends....but now that the file has been submitted, i dont want them to question him knowing that he has a wife in canada, just 1 hour away, so why would he say he is coming to meet friends.
We usually always go with the friends thing, even when i cross the border, ofcourse if they'll ask, we won't lie !

Sparkle I think all will be fine. If the friends answer worked before then go with it again..besides he will visit friends too when he comes so thats that. I think u already have a good handle on your question. My husband came twice to Canada on visitors visas after i left india .. he had no problem and they knew i had moved back to canada w/ the kids. The 2nd time they also knew that we wanted to start sponsorship. I guess they believed he would go back and he did go back both times so thats that. Not everyone has a problem coming in! Just leave lol when u r supposed to & they'll let u back in next time =)

Sparkle,

I suggest that he start telling the truth, and here's why. My friends wife use to do the same thing, cross the border and say she was visiting friends. Then one day an officer was curious why she was crossing so often or every few months.... So they sent her for a secondary search, here the officer asked her again, her purpose for the visit. She again stated friends. Then the officer asked her if she had a bf she was visiting...here should have been this woman's clue that something was up. But, my friend's wife answered yes to a bf. Then they told her she was lying. They had her husband's name on file, because she had filed for PR (outland) and so it was noted. She almost got booted from the country immediately (you don't want a refusal order). Luckily, she was given a visitor record and told she could only stay one month, then would have to return to the States. That isn't bad because you are allowed to try and re-enter 24 hours later, it's just a huge hassle. Anyways, from then on out, she told them the truth, told them the PR application was already in process and always told them how long she would be staying (usually a few months at a time). The thing is if you are an Amercian pp, they don't usually care if you are coming up as long as you have ties back at home. I honestly suggest being truthful, even if you get one officer who says no, it's better than deportation order later because they caught you lying upon entry.

Im surprised the border hasnt asked him yet
1) are you married?
He'll have to say yes...he shouldnt lie....
Then they'll ask 2) where's your wife?
Then they'll wonder why he didnt say he'd b visiting u too. Whats he going to say then , i forgot to say wife. He wont look believable and they'll think something is up...when nothin is so just tell truth. After nylalisa reply.. its too risky...i think it may not always work and he risks losing a lot.

My hubby was never denied a visa or had issues entering Canada with it - hes told the truth about who he is visitin (me n kids) and its always worked out. They dont deny every sponsored person.

Hey guys,

Was just wondering...my husband has a visitor visa for canada...and while our file has been sent, can he cross the border now easily just to visit me. He lives 1 hour away from me, and usually i drive to US on weekends, I was wondering if its okay for him to drive down this weekend? He has friends in Canada as well, so should he say he is coming to visit me or his friends??
Hi, I just came back from US to Canada yesterday with my husband who is sponsoring me. They asked me if I have residence card, I said: Not yet but I applied for it. Then she asked how long I was staying in Canada and I said the truth: 65days (same thing wrote on the customs card). That was it. No stress no questions of how I was going to support myself in canada and where will I stay. When I wasn't married to him, I used to tell I am visiting friend and then they would send me to immigration to answer more questions. But since I started telling them the truth (visiting boyfriend, then fiance, now husband) it's been always easier and faster.
In my opinion, if you come to visit friend and staying for longer period of time, you need to show how are you going to support yourself. But if you have a husband+applied for sponsorship and will live with him, they have no problem letting you in. (of course if you are not criminal or anything :))

Anyone from early December apps received any news yet for first step approval?

Im happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today i called the Call centre and listened to an update on the recording msg... it said sponsorship was sent to nearest visa office closest to my relative on Jan 4th.
Its gone to Delhi!!!
So happy!
I had initially sent it in on Oct. 14 but had to resubmit a form which was rec'd on Dec. 14th in Mississauga....i had issues with Canada post so im so relieved now. =)
Hope it'll b quick processing in Delhi

@ Nylalisa - There's your answer. :D

@ missinghim - Congrats! You're the first in our group. :) That's great news! Now, if you'll excuse me... I need to go check my eCAS.

Yay!

Nothing for me yet... should be tomorrow or Thursday I guess that it starts since mine got there on the 2nd December. :)

Ecas is slow ..i heard my update on their 24hr recording w/ my client ID number.
Pls see below:

Call Centre telephone number: 1-888-242‑2100

* Automated telephone service (available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
If you have a touch-tone telephone, you can listen to prerecorded information about CIC programs, order application kits, and check the STATUS of your application.

Mine was quicker than others cuz i did a REsubmission on Dec. 14. i had earlier applied on Oct 12. And when i got that letter on Nov. 8 because one of my forms wasnt signed (delayed us!), they also gave me my client number =) ...i also noticed IO in mississauaga had written in his boxes already on the forms n accepted the money ...so i knew back in nov i was pretty much approved they were just waiting for that 1 form back before they could forward it to new delhi.

I dont think the others will hear anything bk til the standard processing days have passed. In early Dec it was 37 days.

We haven't heard anything yet, ours was received December 1st. But I'm not expecting to hear anything until next week anyway because of all the holidays. Then there is the delay of mail from Canada to the UK as well. Fingers crossed we'll hear soon :)

My guess for the members of our group who will hear first will be:

Rathika (Dec. 01)
Whitehorsejk (Dec. 01)
Nylalisa (Dec. 02)
Kililit (Dec. 03)

Then there are 5 who are December 06. Let us know as you start hearing from them. :)

Congrats "missinghim"
Thats great news !! I believe I will be the last one to hear some good news in our group since my application was received in the end. I am really hoping you guys to start hearing some news ASAP !!

I just checked the CIC website today...and it says 46 days for the sponsor approval as of today (Working on applicants received Nov 29,2010)

Hey December,

I hope you guys start seeing some activity. The November/October threads are currently backed up in Buffalo (And other offices, probably). We've heard nothing in a few weeks. I'm hoping they decide to dish out some apps to some of the satellite offices (e.g. NY, Detroit, LA) for faster processing, which would in turn speed you guys up as well.
