hey guys,
does anyone know how buffalo notifies people about requests for additional documents and if an interview is needed?? is it usually via email or through actual mail?? thanks!!

Hi clarkie,

They have been very inconsistent with the way they go through the entire process. I would suggest to keep a lookout on your email and the mailbox as well !! They can try to contact you in any of these ways I believe. I haven't really seen one consistent route they follow.

hey sparkle, ok thanks!! i will be sure to do that then! im hoping its thru email though...its so much faster ;D

Hi all,

Hope everyone is in positive spirits considering the waiting game we're all playing. Congrats to the PPR. :)

I have moved from IN PROCESS (MARCH 4th) to INITIAL ASSESSMENT completed (MARCH 10th).
Pretty good, i think, considering AOR was Feb 7th.

I received the letter yesterday (March 21st - arghh snail mail coming from Australia to Canada)
"Initial assessment of your application has been completed and your selection interview has been waived. You are not being asked to attend an interview at this time. However, until our office completes the processing of your application you may still be required to attend an interview for the purpose of ensuring that you are admissible to Canada"

They have requested RFPR (which has been paid) and a traffic history report (does not apply to me). I emailed them yesterday advising this.

more waiting..

Hello again,

I'm checking the e site and under the permanent application status it says Application received and has not changed to in process. It has been like this for a month now, should it have changed to in-process if so anyone experience why it hasn't?

Under Sponsorship approval it obviously says decision made and I was approved.

yeah that would be a mistake to take all that luggage.
I thought it was only woman that couldnt travel light?!

Can't you survive with one big suitcase of things? I did the first time I 'visited'. And you'll find you acquire things while you're here. Plus clothes are much cheaper here!

Also my ecas never changed to in process. Just 'we have received...... etc' to decision made.

I normally travel light but if im intending to go forever there is a lot of stuff I need/want to take that I dont really want to leave here and never see again. plus I'd be using my airmiles for the flight so that amount of luggage is included so I would want to get my monies worth!!!

Anyways hopefully I will hear soon.

Are you never going back to england?

From reading the forums it seems to be all over the place with some people getting it shortly after AOR to some getting it right before PPR so who knows. I'm going in thinking it will be a month between hearing from them and using that to kind of ease my mind :P

Hi Float! Congrats on the progress, and thanks for dropping us a note! That's pretty fast processing. We have one other couple in our group that is going through the Mexico City office, and I am sure that your post will be good news for them. When are you or your partner planning to land? :)

You're very much correct that it was good news, Quakingaspen! 3.5 months is impressive indeed. I think we could've been done by now as well but there was a delay in getting our documents to the embassy. They were finally dropped off today, so here's hoping for a fast PPR.

Hi Inl,

We went through London. Our application was recieved in London on Jan 13th (I think). Our ecas never changed to 'in progress'...just went to decision made and that applicant would be notified...and it said the decision was made on Feb 26th (a Saturday). My husband recieved an email on Feb 28th (a Monday) for him to send in his passport. We sent the passport 2 weeks ago today and it arrived at the London visa office two weeks ago tomorrow. We have not had it back yet. But from what I have read about other people, it usually takes about 3 weeks (though in the email they say it can take up to 6 weeks before it is returned). We are still in the UK, so I expect that the timeline to get passports back is a bit quicker as it doesn't have as far to go. We sent it with a self addressed Royal Mail special delivery envelope to be returned in...which means that once they send it back we should get it within a day.

quakingaspen said before that 2 of us that applied through London have had passport requests (3 weeks ago) and 2 haven't. I can honestly say I don't know why the other two haven't yet. It is all a big mystery what happens in the visa office....and I sure would like to be a fly on the wall there!

Anyway, hope the information helps...but it seems every application is different and just because one person goes through faster doesn't always mean yours will...but that doesn't mean you won't get it, just that they are taking a bit longer. I've seen some people in November who still haven't had their passport request from the London office (though that may have changed in the last few days).

Good luck with your application. :)

Hi,

New to all of this and we thought we would participate.

Our application for outside of canada spousal sponsorship (my wife is a UK resident) was recieved.
December 9th 2010 in Mississauga
January 31st I was approved as a sponsor (decision made)
February 9th London received PR application and Medical results received

We've heard nothing since as my wife is visiting here while we go through the process and of course will not overstay etc.
What is the rest of the process like? How long and what should we expect? She has no criminal history at all and has not lived in any other country.

Thanks in advance from the Crazy Canuck and Batty Brit :-)

I too have not seen the change from "application received" too "in process" but my visa office is one of the slowest so I am not so surprised :(
