Just got the passport request, and I've got a quick question for those who have already gone through this... it says:

So that your permanent resident visa(s) can be issued, please submit the documents listed below:

1. The "Updated Information Chart" in Appendix B, fully completed for you and your accompanying dependents (as applicable).

2. A photocopy of ALL pages of your passport and of the passport(s) for you and your accompanying dependents (as applicable).

Submit the documents according to the instructions in Appendix C. Please also include a copy of this correspondence with your submission.

So I'm guessing that means I disregard the Appendix A - Photo Specifications?

I have come to Canada on a visitor visa, the Applicants residing: IN CANADA sections says,

If you and all the accompanying dependents on your application are currently in Canada and plan to be in Canada for at least three months, you may submit your passport copies, Appendix B and 2 x Photos to the Case Processing Centre - Ottowa ("CPC-O").

I find it odd that they would mention photos there when it's not in the original letter... I would think maybe the Appendix C section is a generic "this is how you send stuff in" and I still don't need the photos? Just thought I'd run a sanity check past you guys and see if that makes sense.

Thanks for all the help here on the forum everyone - and grum, hope you get yours soon!!

my guess is the original photos sent in with your application are currently at the visa office in Syndey? therefore it sounds like CIC is saying: "if you are now in canada and plan to be for 3 months (which is our estimated amount of time it will take to issue your visa), then we need another set of photos sent to the Ottawa office so they can issue your visa there."

it appears the first part of the letter is talking to you specifically about YOUR application - "these are the items we need from you to finalize your application that is currently in syndey".

the message about applicants currently in canada appears to be more of a general statement to any applicant who has recently traveled to canada.

if the applicant is currently in canada, and plans to be there until approval, then my suggestion is to send another set of photos. in my opinion, not doing so will certainly delay the processing of the PR visa.

That's a really good point! I hadn't thought about where the physical copies of everything were. I'll send in new photos (better safe than sorry anyway!).

Cheers.

We are in Australia and sent in photos anyway... better safe than sorry :)

Does Appendix A, Appendix B and Appendix C come with the passport request? Or, are you referring to the Appendix in original application? (Sorry this may seem like a dumb question. I might have to go through the same process. Both sponsor and sponsored person are temporarily residing in Canada, in my case.)

The passport request came with a PDF including the official letter request and the Appendix A B and C.

COPR arrived today!! Flights will be booked and landing will be next weekend!

Status change to In Process since 21st Oct.

:D

congrats Grum!!! :)

Does the sponsor or applicant get the sponsorship approval email? And is it one of those steps where you may not even get an email, or everybody definitely receives one? The spreadsheet looks like I could possibly get it any day now! I need to get my mind off it ???

The sponsor gets the email.... sometimes a letter in the post for AOR and Sponsorship approval.

all other communication after sponsorship approval from Sydney goes to the applicant

Decision made this morning.
I'm on a British passport, do they ask for entire passport or a scan or pages or just confirmation it has not been updated?

Also found out I wont be able to import my motorcycle as it doesn't conform to Canadian / US standards. :(
Looks like I'm going to have to sell it when i get back in Nov.

generally, if you are visa exempt, then it will be a scanned copy. though, sometimes PPR is waived for visa exempt applicants and DM means the COPR has been mailed to the applicant. i am not sure if syndey does it the same way.
